whats the story? good range, lots of members, too crowded, range condition? I'm interested because it has the farthest rifle range around Baton Rouge.

My father in law is. I have been there a few times and we had the range to ourselves. Granted, it was not during peak hours. It was over the Christmas holidays during the last few years. It is fine for what it is.

I was a member till I moved away 4-1/2 yrs ago. That's a great club with nice ranges. There are properly constructed berms and covered firing points. At the time I left there were no clubhouse facilities, but there was talk of getting a clubhouse "someday." Sanitary facilities consist(ed) of a Porta-Potty. It is (was) a members-only range, except for a couple of public sight-in days before hunting season. A 50-yd pistol range, a 100-yd sighting-in and smallbore range, plus a very nice 600-yd range with pits for XTC Highpower rifle. The Highpower range is notorious for the tricky wind conditions from thelonger firing lines, but if you can learn to dope the wind there you can do it just about anywhere. Organized matches have priority over individual shooters so you can't use a range during a match, usually on Saturday mornings. When I was there you could go out during the week and more often than not you would be the only one out there. The club hosts club, regional and state matches. Members are expected to attend one or two work days a year, or pay extra. Safe gunhandling is taken very seriously - no jugheads allowed, and members are held responsible for their guests' conduct/behavior. Many very fine shooters in the club, who win competitive championships. I used to shoot Highpower, had a great time out there, I miss that club, nothing like it where I live now.
