AP Poll Lacking BCS Impact

News to some and not to others, but the AP has no impact on the BCS National Championship nor the rankings leading up to it. The AP poll has operated independently since 2004. The formula includes The USA Today Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll along with:
Peter Wolfe
Wes Colley
Sagarin
Seattle Times
Richard Billingsley
Kenneth Massey
Some concerns still about the AP and how they handled the USC sanctions:

I don't think they would hesitate to give USC the AP title this year.

So what happens when a coach watches or seeing in the paper that the #8 team beats the #1 team (AP) versus the #8 team (same in both polls
) beating the #9 team (Coaches)?
Wouldnt have have an effect on the way the coach votes since the papers and ESPN always refuse to use coaches poll numbers until the BCS is out.

Listening to the Two Live Stews in Atlanta online and an analysts came on and said the same thing. He said the AP Poll doesn't matter. The focus should be on the Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll. He doesn't know why anyone would use the AP poll at all.
As for your question, if I had a vote based on a particular poll, at worst I would reference that poll's previous ranking and adjust the teams according to performance. I would not use a different poll that I don't have a vote in or that has no direct impact on the BCS Championship to make that determination.

Considering what the AP voters do for a living, only a moron would think it's irrelevant.
