First off, I'm not looking to start a John Brady arugment. I don't care who's presumed fault it is that LSU had/has a low rating to overcome. The basis of my curiosity is how can a school like UK lose 6 underclassmen (Meeks last year) in a 2 year stint, and go on to sign more, presumably one-and-done guys (see Knight) the next year and yet seemingly not be in danger (or at least no one mentions it) of an impending low APR score?

The main component of the APR is having guys leave in good academic standing. As long as they take the necessary number of classes and have a 2.0 gpa, they won't hurt the APR. APR and GSR (graduation success rate) are different.

Of course, many players who go pro will not return to class. Guys like Lance Stephenson aren't even in the same cities anymore because they are working with trainers instead of going to school.

There is a delay of several years. UK will feel no pain now, but they will pay the piper at some point. Fortunately for them, Tubby and Billy G. were sticklers about academics, so they have a nice cushion built up.

Thanks for the insight. I'm sure Cal will sneak out the door just before the hammer drops
