Thanks Rummel, but I've seen that contract before. That was the one from prior to last season (after the NC) that accounted for his salary raise. The extension would be after January 2009, but you may be right.

Either way its not what that other poster was stating. It will at least be $7.5M total owed.

That's just the LSU's portion.

Pretty sure that TAF would be responsible for the rest...

LSU as a university is only responsible for $300,000/year for Miles. TAF, you are correct, is responsible for the remaining $3.451 M. That is a law in the state for how much a state university is allowed pay a coach.

BTW, that contract that I posted is the latest contract for Miles.

That being said, I think that clears up any confusion of whether he was granted that extension.

It certainly seems that he was not as there would be a new contract if an extension had been agreed upon.

Also, this is kinda cool:

You had the figure right originally, just not the years. He didn't get the extension last year but he still has 3 years left. The contract addendum signed in December 07 extended the contract through the end of 2012. The contract was ammended again in the Spring of 08 to move the max buyout from 15 million to 18 but did not affect the term.

Thanks Rummeltiger. I've seen that site and that contract from there before. I was just told that he had gotten the extension last season. If he in fact didn't and doesn't this year, I'll be very happy.

To MOT, the original number of $11.25 million would be if we fired him now. After next season only 2011 and 2012 will remain on his contract assuming no extensions, thus only $7.502M

The coaches salaries these days are just ridiculous though.

Gotcha, my mistake. I was just glancing through and I thought you were saying if he didn't get the extension then he would only have two years left as of right now.

And to Rummel, they wouldn't need a new contract just for the rollover extension. Check back your link and you will see the letter from the Chancellor to acknowledge the rollover following the 06 season. The new contract addendum was signed in 07 so they didn't need the rollover that year. And there isn't anything to show a rollover following last season.
