Water/Sewage bill

I know this could go on OT but I didn't want all the shenanigans. I got my first water/sewer bill and I can not understand why the sewer charge is so much? Its four times the amount that water is. Does anyone know how they calculate it?

You got any idea how much it costs to turn your poop and pee into drinkable water?

Nope but if you consider I have only been at my house for two weeks and haven't really done that much. I am shocked its that expensive.

I'm pretty sure it's determined by the amount of water you use. It's not exact but an estimate. Whether you drink every ounce of the water or flush it down the toilet.
Kind of messed up huh?

Thanks JustinTI, I found the answer on that site.
For new residential customers, the Sewer User Fee is based on the average water consumption of 11.5 CCF. Adjustments are made after three full months of water consumption is available. A credit is issued to customers with water consumption below the average and the monthly Sewer User Fee is adjusted.
For existing residential customers, adjustments to the Sewer User Fee can be made if the average water consumption for the most recent six months is lower than the consumption being billed. Customers may call the Service Fee Business Office at 389-5378 to request a review of their account.
Once again thank you

No problem...glad I could help. I found that link when I was trying to figure out why my sewage bill was so high a couple months ago.

did you call them or wait the three months?

YEARS ago (like 1993) we bought a home in BR ... had a client that told me to call the sewer/water dept right away and tell them that we'd bought a home (of course we had transferred it to our name) BUT they adjusted it pretty much right away based on the number of people living in the home from what I recall.
??? Not a clue if it's done this way or not now ... I'd call. Can't hurt.

Still waiting. I'm going to try calling after my next bill, if there is no credit.

The bill when you get your credit will probably be zero. It took me three or four months of stupid high bills for them to credit me and then for it to level off when I moved in my house.

That is more than 100% of your water bill!
