Just saw this. Sorry if redundant.

WVU needs to tell the BE to get effed, and that they're joining the Big 12 in 2012. If the BE doesn't like it, they can discuss it in the courtroom.

Mizzou needs to tell the Big 12 the same thing.

Then the SEC has 14 for 2012, and the Big 12 has 10. Let the BE figure out the rest.

Its time to start calling some of these bluffs and make moves.

The Big 12 would have no problem letting Mizzou go for 2012 if WVU could start in 2012.

The problem exists between WVU and the BE. Technically, they are locked in until June 2014. 2 more full football seasons in the BE after this one.

They need to take it up in the courtroom if the BE isn't willing to negotiate.

It's been reported that if WVU wanted to leave the BE for the 2012 season, the buyout was negotiated to be around $20mil. Not too bad, WVU was already prepared to pay that if we ended up with the SEC invite. I think the ball's in Mizzou's court right now as to whether or not they are leaving for the SEC right away.

The SEC will take Mizzou for 2012 if at all possible.

The Big 12 will happily let Mizzou go in 2012 if WVU can start in 2012.

So it is up to the BE and WVU to figure out a way for WVU to leave immediately.

Depends what happens with the other conference members.

If Louisville and another school such as Cincy or South Florida gets a Big 12 invite as well, that means 6 football-playing members will be leaving and it will be impossible for them to continue on as a conference because Navy, Boise, Army, etc., will never join a conference where everyone is jumping ship.

At that point, it becomes a question of how badly the leftover football schools plus the non-football members like ND want to play hardball with the exist fees.

West Virginia to the Big 12.

That makes sense geographically.

Austin is further from Morgantown than College Station is from Columbia, SC (our furthest SEC trip).

Ironic.

WVU to the Big 12 makes just as much sense as the Big "East" expansion plan to invite Air Force, Boise St, Houston, SMU...travel considerations went out the window for WVU when that was brought to the table.

WVU still makes the most sense in the ACC with natural rivals vs Pitt, Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia Tech...but the snobs in North Carolina don't want us because of academics. The result? Kansas gains a recruiting footprint in ACC territory...Oklahoma and Texas gain a footprint in ACC territory. GFY ACC.

WVU to the SEC makes the most financial sense for WVU...but SEC prefers Mizzou...no harm no foul.

In an ideal world for WVU, the Big 12 would extend invites to Louisville (rival) and South Florida (WVU continues to recruit well in Florida).

All in all this will be a good move for WVU recruiting and a financial boost for a public school with an athletic dept that operates at a $141 million surplus (top 20 among public schools in the country). WVU basketball will have an immediate impact on Big 12 hoops. WVU football will now take Texas rejects in addition to the Florida rejects they get every year. Dana Holgerson has recruiting history in Texas and Oklahoma...he will be at WVU for the long haul now.

To the WV fans that don't happen to live in Texas, Do you even know anyone who went to Baylor, Texas Tech, OU, OSU, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, or TCU.

Perfect excuse for Mizzou to leave. They can play the "We don't want to join the Big East" card and just bolt.
