we (the SEC) would have allowed this process to begin to happen publicly if we didn't already have all of our ducks in a row?

There is no doubt in my mind that Slive and the SEC presidents already have solid commitments from the three other schools we will be adding. No way any of this starts unraveling without everything completely sewn up ahead of time. Now we just have to wait and see who it'll be, I guess.

I think your right except that we will add one other team to make it 14… 16 is too many and will do away with too many cross division rivals.

I also don't think that the SEC will go to 16 either. They are not going to be the catalyst to major changes in the college football landscape. In no shape or form would Slive allow this process to continue without being 100% sure that A&M will get in. Him and Loftin have built a good relationship.

Perhaps. The number wasn't really my point. Mainly was saying that we knew how this was going to shake out before it got started.

I agree. Of course the media, specifically ESPN, spin it as "SEC not wanting A&M", referring to the comments after the presidents meeting. They never specifically said that they reject A&M. They just said they were happy where they are with 12, but if anything happens they would look into it. Something around that tone. Both sides, A&M and the SEC, chose their words wisely. Nobody wants to get sued and they wanted to avoid legal litigation.
