It seems to me like that would be where he belongs.

He coached in the college ranks for 20 years. He has to have a lot of connections. He has ties to the Miami teams and players under Butch Davis. He has ties to the Harbaughs. Players seemed to love him until the wheels fell off this year. Part of that personality is what is killing him now. Seems like he would have been a good fit at Miami if the whole Richt thing wouldn't have gone down so quickly.

How far removed is he from the college game? This, or the lack of prior college experience thereof has proven to be a factor in the success/failure of college coaches that came from the NFL ranks.

He's a good NFL coach, if he's fired he'll be a hot commodity in the NFL

Is he a good coach? I honestly think he is pretty mediocre and was riding the good play of Andrew Luck. Once Luck went down with injury this year he has been exposed.

On a separate note, choosing Pagano over Arians was the death blow. Almost impossible situation with Pagano coming back from cancer, but it was clear from Arians' interim work he would be quite the HC and we have seen that was no fluke with what he has done in Arizona.

I thought Arians was the fluke, because outside of his Pittsburgh OC job, he had a journeyman resume and journeyman results. I was wrong. Happens often.
