Why wouldn't Jimbo come to LSU? And why wouldn't LSU want him?

LSU can offer Jimbo more money, more money for assistants, and less competition for recruits.

Jimbo can offer LSU a coach with an outstanding track record as a head coach, as a recruiter, and as a leader of a top college football program.

With Herman in all likelihood headed to UH, it's almost pointless to suggest Jimbo isn't the next LSU coach.

I love Coach O, and I honestly believe he would be an extremely successful head coach at LSU -- perhaps more successful than Fisher.

But regardless of how Coach O does, Fisher to LSU looks like a done deal.

Just my perspective.

Despite the rough season, FSU will match every dollar we offer for Fisher, so I don't buy that we can offer more money

LSU would love to have fisher and he's a top target, it's up to him and them if it gets done

It's far from a done deal though

ETA any person that wouldn't want Jimbo at LSU is a fricking idiot and ignore their opinion

Can anyone confirm this is the first "done deal"?

No reason the fanbase shouldn't want him.

From his perspective it might be a lateral transfer. He is in a conference that's easier to win with a fanbase that's not quite as crazy. The money at LSU will only be marginally better and he has to uproot his family (although it might be a good thing to get a fresh start).

FSU pays Fisher around 5.5 M, but I have a feeling Alleva is willing to spend Harbaugh money to land Fisher (6.5 M-7 M). I'm not sure FSU goes that high.

I suppose if Coach O goes 7-1, Alleva would rather pay 4 M for O than 7 M for Fisher. Who knows though.

They will go as high as possible. We won't win fisher through outbidding for him

The consensus is that FSU doesn't spend huge money on assistants. I interpreted that to mean they wouldn't spend crazy money on Fisher.

We have more money in our athletic fund, and FSU didn't anti up for his assistants? Why would they suddenly change their mind?

I think it would be a very good hire but saying this is dangerous. I don't think it qualifies them as stupid to not want Jimbo. He's got a few liabilities and his team got smoked pretty bad even before. Louisville is recruiting no where near FSU, and should have never drubbed them like that.

FSU has twice as many 5* as Louisvile has 4* in their last classes. That ain't a good look.
