He's not even the best offensive coordinator on their team?

Because Sabans OC doesn't matter. They have averaged +30 points in O every year.

Because Saban is a spread, zone read kind of offensive guru.

They don't need him. Unlike some coaches, ones like Saban don't need elite coordinators.

But he has them anyway...

You're trying to compare Ed Orgeron to Nick Saban. Everyone knows Saban is superior. Far superior. That is probably why he is paid twice as much.

Read it again, or, let me rephrase it for you. Saban, unlike O, does not need elite coordinators to lean on. Yes, he has them, but he could utilize mid-range coordinators who can run his game plans and still win.
Plus, programs like Bama will draw top staffs. Apparently, LSU is having some difficulty.

Saban has taken him in and allowed him to rebuild his reputation. Now it's time for him to move on. Saban is now doing the same with Sark. Saban is doing a great thing for these guys giving them a second (or third) chance. After sark is gone he will take in another coach who need a rebranding.

Yeah, that's why he does it. Saint Nick

His system is rigid enough for the fallen angels of the football realm to rehab their image while Saban keeps control and leverage of great football minds on the cheap. Its brilliant, but its certainly not out of the goodness of his heart...
