If he were to accept the LSU job I bet he would say LSU is his dream hc job because of the talent we have.

Texas should be the best job in America, but their administrative arrogance, booster drama, and crumbling conference make the job way more trouble than its worth. Its similar to Notre Dame in that regard, and remember that Hermans former boss Urban passed on Notre Dame (which really IS his dream job) for Florida.

Herman and Herbstriet are friends as well, and he called the job a cesspool last week, so Texas better hope Herman doesnt ask around for any advice.

I know Austin is beautiful you fricking low life ... but that is not always the end all be all with people making a decision on where they live or in this case where a coach wants to try to further his career.

And most of that argument makes perfect sense.... Guess we'll see in about 6 - 8 weeks.... I know Austin is better than Waco, Lubbock, and College Station, but these kids don't make their college choices simply on that. That's usually further down the list of why they want to attend a particular school...

The Big 12 is living on borrowed time. They do not have a Conference SECCG because they do not have 2 divisions. They don't have the SECN and the huge revenue sharing that increases every year. They don't have a possibility of 2 teams from the same Conference in the Play Off.

There is more money and opportunity in the SECW for a dynasty, having beaten Saban, Stoops, Fisher. He can have more autonomy and job security! He loves recruiting and knows the State of Texas and he likes molding young men into better students, husbands, fathers, and people.

Everyone talks about how hard it is to get people to stay and watch the games. With Tom Herman you would have people fighting over tickets. Plus Saban takes lessons from Herman. Hire Herman and Saban is old news.

LSU is a perfect fit because of Saban and level of competition.

Saban used UT boosters to pay off his 25 mm in bad real estate debts, save him from bankruptcy and then backed out. He was never going as long as Miles was here. With Herman, I think Saban's SEC dynasty is over. Herman would be guaranteed the highest pay in the SEC when he wins. He could have taken this Roster and won this year. Look what he did with a 73rd ranked Roster.

Now who is calling who names? I may have been a bit over the top but you made a post that was plainly blind to why UT is a less attractive job than LSU. You were the one trying to say UT was the last place anyone wanted to go for someone who's stated he wanted to stay in TX. I just told you why you were wrong. You seem to be the fan that wants an Art Briles offense with an SEC defense but can't understand that they're pretty much mutually exclusive.

Oh my God, I've read it all now. Nick Saban stole $25 million from J.R. Ewing!

I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted so much.

Herman wil be the Head coach at LSU next year most likely. The big 12 is a shite conference on the decline.

Seriously, he's right. Saban and his agent used Texas as leverage to squeeze more out of Alabama

I believe him.

Unfortunately, I believe this too. I'm afraid Herman would pick UT over us as well, just given his knowledge of the state, prior ties to Texas etc. Our best hope for Herman is that Texas keeps Strong, IMO

$$$ for any and all things football, location of talent, city is a great place to live and raise children, potential at Texas is much better than LSU. I hate to admit that, but it's true.

Maybe it's the current symptom of LSU fan's chronic case of catastrophe syndrome.

The city is better and its a better place to raise kids, sure. But he won't get Saban money whether he goes to LSU or Texas, so that's a wash. He knows that he has a better roster at LSU, in a conference that won't fold anytime soon. LSU has shown that they'll pay top dollar for top coaches. We outspend Texas by 1.5 million on our staff on coaches. He can go undefeated at Texas and he could get left out of the playoffs to be honest, with no title game and horrible competition. So the easier path isn't always the best option. Hell, Baylor and WVU are undefeated right now and its pretty unanimous they have no shot at the playoffs even if they win out. So really the only thing UT has over LSU is Austin being a better city than Baton Rouge. That might be the deal breaker, but let's not act like Texas is the end all be all of college football, because they're not.

The biggest question for Herman at Texas is who will his boss be? Perrin the interim AD is a short term fix and is essentially just a Booster doing the job. So who would hire him and who would be the permanent AD is a big drawback to Texas right now
