He doesn't have a lot to work with up front in my opinion. Our two deep line isn't near what it was in the past. People don't like to hear that but it's true. Even with that I don't think Aranda is that special. Maybe it takes time to switch systems. Lou Tepper said it took 3-4 years for his to work.

Either way, I don't see him coming back next season.

Through 4 he has yet to give up more than 20 points and our pass rush is on another level.

We might be s bit softer between the 20's, but that's going to happen when you blitz more and focus on creating turnovers. They will get better over time at this.

nope. Unless you plan on already having your list down to the 15th best coach available. Tom Herman and Jimbo Fisher are not even going to talk to you if you mandate that they have to keep even one coach. It is a dumb idea.

It is the kind of idea that allowed us to keep Jimbo for a grand total of 2 years. And in return, our hiring pool was limited to a coach who never lost less than 3 conference games in a season prior to his arrival at LSU. Forcing our new coach to keep Jimbo ultimately caused us to hire a coach with a 57% winning record.

Let's not do that again. Just hire the best coach you can and let him hire the best assistants he can get. Pay the head coach and assistance extremely competitively and you'll have really, really good coaches begging to work at LSU.

The D gave the offense the ball at the 25, which they squandered 3 plays on and kicked a FG, and forced 4 other 3 and outs and had a goal line stand, and didn't give up a TD. I wouldn't call that smoking the defense.
We kicked ourselves in the foot all day on stupid plays.

First Auburn FG was preceeded by a 34 yard punt. It was a 51 yard FG.
Auburns 3rd FG came after we had a 2nd and 5 from the 20 yet went backwards and missed a 51 yard FG.
Auburn's 4th FG was aided by an roughing the passer penalty.
Auburn's 6th FG came after a 34 yard punt, after 3 of the stupidest play calls after the chop block made it 1st and 25.

Hasn't this partly been the defenses fault? I have no idea why but this team is not great on 3rd downs. Auburn had 6 red zone trips...kudos to the D for holding them to 6 FG's but an pretty mediocre Auburn O smoked LSU last weekend. It's hard to argue otherwise.

LSU was 3rd in the country in in 3rd down defense before Auburn. They definitely had a problem stopping Auburn but my God if the offense had helped even a little, that problem wouldn't have even gotten that big.

they scored 18 points and didn't get a TD

In 2 losses they've given up 1 TD, and a total of 34 points if that's not good enough, then your standards are out of whack, especially given a guy in his first year, with out the guys to fit his system.

19 of 65 (29%) overall. 12 of 48 (25%) against P5 teams.

That's good for 20th and 11th in the country, respectively. Don't let facts get in the way of your idiocy or anything.

Yah. A co-worker just corrected me and said that Auburn converted less than 50% of their 3rd down conversions so I stand corrected. He also said it seemed like they converted more than that b/c something like half their drives gained 50+ yards. I think that's getting smoked, especially when the team we were playing is pretty terrible offensively. Who knows...maybe White is a brilliant QB and we just don't know it yet but I still think the D is finding it's way.

And before anyone points it out, I'm not blaming the D for this loss. Holding anyone other than Bama to 18 should = win. But this unit is having a hellavu time getting off the field-it happened in Winny and it happened on the Plains. And it'll really rear it's ugly head when we play Bama and OM if some things don't get corrected.

They're getting off the field over 70% of the time on 3rd downs. Stop saying this like it's anything other than nonsense.

OK, I'll play this game too. What has Coach "O" done with the DL this year that makes anyone think he is a great coach? They have been driven on like cattle in every game, and have yet to play against even a decent offense.

3 and out offenses doesn't help a defense. Auburn O did not smoke our defense. The defense was bend but don't break and gave up ZERO touchdowns while being on the field for 75 plays and 35 mins.

Our offense ran 59 plays and was on the field for 27 mins. 3, 3, 6, 7, 4, 2, 6, 8, 4, 3, 3, 13 those were our offensive drives.

Sad huh? Worse than that is you trying to pass fault to a defense that is still learning the scheme while only giving up 16.75 pts per game and are ranked #21 total points allowed. We are ranked #35 in total defense. Enough said.

Our offense???
ranked #111 in the country in total offense
#110 in scoring (21 pts per game)
#96 time of possession
#119 in total passing offense with 99 attempts
#100 in first downs

Guessing from this statement you haven't watched more than 5 plays of LSU football this year. You should probably quit posting on this subject. BTW he kept AU out of the endzone for the first time in 8 years.

then no offense, but either you don't know much about FB or teams like Bama and 2011 LSU have warp your perceptions. Being "not very good on offense" does not = they should never get a first down or extend a drive. Their coach is also know as an offensive minded coach. 388 yds allowed by a defense is not awesome, but not terrible about avg most years (390 ypg was good for #56 last year). 18 FD is ok, but 18 points and no TD's is good, so not an earth shatter performance but hardly getting smacked and the offense is not doing them any favors.

The D has been great.

He also literally just got here.

Auburn didn't score a TD.

1. "great"??? No
2. He's been here since January, so all spring, all fall camp, and now 4 games. Coaches can get things moving quickly.
3. True, but Auburn gained almost 400 yards on us, and they have a terrible offense. Holding them to FGs was good, but we gave up far too many yards to a very mediocre offense.

Yes, our total D is now ranked 25, but we've played an FCS team, and three D-I teams that are ranked 31, 79, and 94 (out of 127) in total offense.

Our D is ok, but not earth-shattering. The meat of our schedule lies ahead.
