Why are LSU fans so timid about Jimbo?

What's the back story? I didn't really start watching LSU until 2006 and I was 11 at the time so I don't remember a whole lot.

At the time there was the criticism that his offense shut down in big games...but that's kind of become a trend under Les over like 5 OCs so people have kind of realized it probably wasn't his fault.

plus he went on to lead the resurgence of FSU with a high profile offense and multiple first round QBs drafted. Ponder, Manuel and Winston.

Connect the dots.

Timid?

Half the board is posts demanding he return triumphantly as the LSU hc.

Don't think timid is the right word. A lot of LSU fans wanted him gone when he was an OC under Les. I still remember threads talking about how he would be an utter failure at FSU.

I think we should be hesitant to go after a coach that will require huge payouts and a huge salary. If we are going to experiment, let's offer a 3 year $3 mill contract to Herman or Fuentes and add youth and energy to the program. I guarantee either of these two guys can get 8 wins like Les. We should be thinking outside the box if a coaching change happens. The offense wasn't that dynamic when Jimbo was with Saban.

Timid? I'd personally move Miles out and Jimbo in by myself with my one pick-up truck.

How is that a better situation than paying a NC winning coach 5M?

Yeah, you'd be the worst fricking AD on the planet. You don't make this move and hire some young guy with no fricking experience running a big time program.

I'm not a fan of Jimbo calling plays. He still has plenty of wtf calls at FSU. He's finally giving up some of the play calling after the Clemson shite show.

Sorry I don't agree with a Jimbo hire, sounds like you've already made up your mind. Keep in mind, everyone was screaming for him to be fired when he was OC at LSU.

If you fire a guy that is the school's winningest coach you better have a sure hire in the wings. LSU isn't in the market for an up and comer type coach right now. It needs a proven commodity and Jimbo is it. Plus he can develop quarterbacks which is something we haven't had since he was last here.

Sounds like he would be perfect for LSU.

At least he has the ability to recognize the problem and adjust...

Jimbo's offense produced a national title here and one for him at FSU.

Shouldn't be timid at all. The "glory days" per say from 2003-2007. Go back and watch some of those games. The team plays a totally different style of football. Especially on offense. Jimbo has a huge influence on that. And I'm not just talking scheme, I mean the entire dynamic and execution. He has grown as a coach and recruits extremely well. This would truly be an excellent hire IF we could pull it off. Imagine the LSU dominance from those days back with a younger coach and Saban soon leaving at Alabama. Could open the door for LSU to be back on top competing with Florida each year for the title. Would be nice.

Such short memories: Jimbo was one of the most hated OC in LSU history, and that is saying a lot. He was run out of town & left with some very bitter memories. Not saying yea or nay but to think he was run out of town because of CLM's meddling is ridiculous. He was hated.

Jimbo is going through a divorce.

The kids would be an X factor if he decides to move on from FSU.

Actually almost every programs does.

Florida made the move and got a guy who wasn't at a Power 5 program.

Texas made the move and got a guy who wasn't at a Power 5 program.

We are in a era where poaching from other Power 5 programs is rare. And when it does happen it doesn't always work out, just ask USCw, Nebraska or Penn St.
