All in on Canada, if we're going realistic hires. Can't wait for the new look to tailgating:

Assuming he can keep his alcohol problem under control, Sark would be a home run hire as an OC. His offense with LSU athletes would be scary good.

Sark with a alcohol problem in Louisiana where you can pretty much buy beer 24/7 might not be the best idea.

If an alcoholic wants a drink, liquor laws aren't going to stop him

Sam Houston State has only 26 plays and yet the nation's most dynamic attack

* * *

Longo’s system has some tweaks from Leach’s Air-Raid and other offenses. He makes a point of putting less on his QBs. Instead of having his quarterback put the running back in the right spot, call out the protection, ID the front and the coverage and manage “a list of like seven things,” Longo explained, he wanted to take more off his triggerman’s plate.

“The guy that is the most important is the one I was asking to do too much,” he said. “I just want him to execute the play. Our quarterback gets the signal, IDs the coverage and takes the snap. We delegate all the QB’s duties out to everybody else." * * *

Like Leach, Longo doesn’t have a big, ever-expanding list of plays. There are only 26 plays in the Bearkats' offense. Longo used to have over 100 and he wanted to run it all, but "you just can’t coach and excel at that many things."

Sounds pretty good...but that would be a big jump. Gotta be someone just as good with Xs and Os who has done it against power 5 defenses.

The full list of finalists for the 2016 Broyles Award can be seen below:

Alabama – Jeremy Pruitt, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Clemson – Brent Venables, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Colorado – Jim Leavitt, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Michigan – Don Brown, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers
Pittsburgh – Matt Canada, Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks

Only one OC on the list.

Canada is great.

Meacham does great work with QBs. TCU was off this year on offense, but they've been explosive

Kiffin and Sark come with baggage, and are probably a short term solution at best because a great year or two probably puts either in contention for another HC job.

I keep seeing this name. Didn't he just have one good year? That's all it takes?

I hope you realize all of that was Herman's offense. Applewhite was not running this at Texas and failed

Canada has one of the most successful OC's over the last 5 to 6 years.

quote:

He served an integral role in leading Wisconsin to the 2012 Big Ten championship. In 2011, Canada served an integral role in leading Northern Illinois to the MAC championship.[1]

Some QB stats form Canada's 2011 UNI team:
Chandler Harnish | 237 - 384 | 61.7% | 3216 28 TD 6 INT | 153.0

Remember when Wisconsin dropped 70 pts on Nebraska in 2012? That was the Big 10 Title game.

LSU might play Neb in a bowl this year. How'd you like to drop 70 on them?

In 2013, Canada followed his old coach to NC State. They went from 3-9 in their first year, to 8-5 in 2014. That year they put up 41 pts against No. 1 FSU.

LSU might play FSU in a bowl game this year. How'd you like to drop 41 on FSU?

After 2015, Canada had a falling out with his HC, I don't know the why. Canada was hired by Pitt in within 24 hours of being let go.

Pitts scoring offense improved from No. 68 in 2015 to No. 10 in 2016.
