If the job(s) came open at any of the following programs would they hire Ed Orgeron as head coach? (Yes or No)

*Alabama
*OSU
*Mich
*Texas
*Auburn
*FSU
*Clemson
*Tennessee
*Florida
*Georgia

These are LSU's peers. LSU is a better program than 50% of them. Why would any of those schools hire Ed O? Therefore why would LSU hire Ed O? Why? Because it would be a stupid decision.

There was only one program interested in hiring Saban at one time.

Yes, most likely until the moronic consideration of hiring Coach O is dead and gone forever. This is the Coaching Changes board anyway, deal with it if there are coaching change discussions.

hired Brady Hoke

34-38 at ball State

7-6 in his second to last season

12-1 in his last season

then hired by San diego state

4-8 first season

then

9-4

Both of his head coaching stints he turned around bad programs before leaving

Cant be compared to Ed O at all

Derrick Dooley can be compared. That is a similar hire.

Turned out well too......

What's funny is Les Miles would probably be quite a few notches above Coach O for any of those teams.

There it is again complete and utter stupidity talking! So we should or should not do something because another school would or would not do it. Are you really that fricking stupid?

Each situation is different and the day we start being a lemming is the end of our greatness. Coach Oeaux's uniqueness for Louisiana kids is a great tool to help in recruiting which does not translate as well at the other programs. Now if Coach Oeaux stays at LSU no matter what who LSU hires than we could get the best of both worlds. But recruiting is the life blood of college football why do you think Bama has won so many titles lately. Saban is a great coach but his greatness has been that signs literally the best recruiting classes year after year as in the last 4 years the top class in the country. Coach Oeaux is one of the top recruiters in the nation, having him at LSU is a big, big PLUS in the recruiting field.

Not saying he is hired for that reason but it is a big part of the equation. Now someone like Fisher is a great recruiter also, but Coach Oeaux at LSU should be factored in as a huge plus for his consideration at LSU.

there very well may be more than one of them after this season. he has to be getting the college football world's attention.

your question is outdated. just because some other programs wouldn't hire him doesn't mean he wouldn't be a great hire at LSU. he failed once. should he be shunned forever because of that?

No. He should however show he can improve and maintain a football program of any sort before a premiere program makes him a priority.

People do overcome their mistakes and learn from them. But you don't start out at the top.
