They pull the strings around here? They are the ones that can ask Alleva why he screwed up the Chavis contract in the first place or why he thinks as the financial guy in the AD that pay Caldwell 750K for a non revenue producing sport that's not even a top 25 program than it was to make things simple and give the 12 months to Chavis. Why don't they just step in and fire his arse and promote from within as an interim AD and then go out and get someone who really knows how to handle the job with the right priorities?

I saw Alleva being chauffeured around in a golf cart the day of the first football game in his tenure as AD. I remember thinking that he looks like a wuss and has no idea of what he got himself into by coming into the SEC. I just don't think he has the bulldog mentality. He allows himself to be pushed around and is probably used to it.

What did we expect? He screwed up that whole Duke Lacross debacle. And he is from a school that didn't even know football existed until the last two years. He's a wuss and unqualified for this job. There is something to be said for hiring a guy as your AD that is an LSU guy with the business background, experience and love for the institution that they would never allow the crown jewel of the department to ever be saddled with this situation. It takes someone who sees things 2 and 3 steps ahead which means you don't sign a women's basketball coach to that size of a contract for a basketball program that has never made any money and plays before empty arenas and you make sure you are secure with your DC before you sign all of his assistants to lucrative long contract extensions.

That makes no sense based on who the coach is and how long he's been there.

Alleva hired Cutcliffe as well, I believe.

Probably right. Cutcliff has been there awhile now but it is a basketball school first and formost and Alleva is not the right guy for this job. I think he is proving that right now.

That right there should have disqualified him from ever being considered for the AD job. As far as I'm concerned, the bastard should have gone to jail or had his arse sued for ever cooperating with Nifong.
