it's a down year for them for sure but they won the Sugar just last year vs Bama.

I think they'd be nuts to push him out right now.

My guess is he will get the ND job when Kelly leaves. He was rumored to have wanted the ND job a few years ago but ND wanted Kelly.

I listened to some local OU beatwriter on national radio a few weeks back.

they were asking him about the Michigan and Florida rumors and the guy said that stoops is pretty much locked in to norman for a while unless something drastic happens.

said he just built this megamansion outside of norman and his wife is very involved in the local community and is a high up at mary kay.

not that it means much, just saying he runs that town and him and the AD are tight. I guess until he does a mack brown and goes 5-7, 7-5, etc he wont feel the heat

He doesn't look like he has the "fire" anymore. If he really wants the challenge he can get another opportunity, maybe in the NFL. If he's happy with his life he can keep cruising like he has while making a cool $5 mil/year and make just enough every once in a while to keep his job.
He'd have to put three shitty seasons in a row to get fired.

I honestly think Stoops is waiting on Kirk Ferentz to leave Iowa.

Meh. Iowa is a tough place to coach and win given the relative lack of recruiting footprint. It's not the richest school around, and they're one of two P5 schools in a relatively small state. That's part of why Ferentz is still there -- he doesn't win big, but what he's been able to do there is pretty solid.

For a guy like Stoops who does less with more, Iowa is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

He is an alumnus of Iowa. Even took his family to the Iowa bowl a few years back decked out in Iowa gear.
