What's with the Matt Canada love?

Serious question, I know nothing about the guy but he seems to be a crowd favorite around here. I actually had to Google his name to figure out who he was.
The only Pitt game I've watched this year was vs Clemson, which I'll admit was a pretty impressive offensive showing.
So for those wanting him, what sets him apart in your opinion? What are his strengths/specialties?
Why him over Kiffin/Applewhite?
