What type of money would lure Jimbo Fisher to LSU?

A few things to consider:

- In 2015, he signed a contract through 2022 paying him $5 million per year (with $100,000 yearly increases).

- He has a $5 million buyout before Dec. 31, 2016.

- He is one of seven coaches making $5+ million per year (Fisher, Saban, Harbaugh, Sumlin, Strong, Stoops and Meyer).

- Overall record at FSU is 71-16.

- Coached at LSU from 2000–2006 as OC/QB coach

With Herman likely heading to Texas if Strong is canned, I like to think that Jimbo and Coach O are the top candidates.

More than it would take O to stay on board as CEO.

ETA: Is it too much to ask the Longhorns to go ahead and win 9 games and a bowl game? This program needs a young boss like Herman BADLY.

5.5M-5.75M should do it with FSU not looking as glamorous as last year. His ceiling is higher at LSU.

Highest paid coach in the nation. That FSU gig is a sweet deal.

Saban will be the highest paid until he decides not to be.

It has been said that Jimbo Fisher wanted Nick Saban money

And Urban will be right behind him...no one else should be close. If Fisher were to win another one, he would approach $6 million.

5.5 should do it. FSU seems to be declining. He knows LSU is stacked with talent.

FSU has recruited well forever though. I think Jimbo would have to be right near the top in pay and the situation in Tallahassee would have to be bad enough for him to leave what he's built.

I'm thinking it needs to be a 5 year deal at $6 to $6.5 M per year with incentive to bump him to a new level with a playoff title.

Money shouldn't be an issue if Jimbo is ready to make the move.

Unless Jimbo just really wants to get out of Tallahassee, I think LSU will have to go up to 6 million a year to get him to leave.

I do not know why all the love for jimbo. He has played in a weak acc until the recent emergence of Clemson. He is 3-3 in his last 6 games with a 40 point, and 50 point lloss, despite having superior talent. Can you imagine saban losing by 40 or 50 points, yet this guy wants saban money? Ha

I think LSU will push towards $6 million/season if he's willing to come. Just my guess. $5.75 million would be a 15% increase for a coach in his prime (50 yo) with a NC ring and a playoff appearance in the last 3 seasons.

I don't think money will be a major factor.

If Jimbo wants to come to LSU and if LSU wants Jimbo to come, then the money will be hammered out. It won't be a problem of, "We want Jimbo to come but he wants too much money" or "If you pay me X dollars I will come."

Don't get me wrong. If Jimbo and LSU want each other, then Jimmy Sexton will see to it that Jimbo is a very rich man.

I just don't see money being an obstacle. They will hammer out a deal, if they both want Jimbo in Baton Rouge.

that is not true...

14-point loss to Houston
43-point loss to Louisville
2-point loss to North Carolina

That's kind of how I see it, too. OK, LSU will probably have to pay him another $500,000 to a million, but is that what is going to sway him? I think it's more about recruiting, lifestyle, administrative support, etc. Also, I think this thread subject is more interesting with respect to Herman. Would Texas and LSU be willing to give the guy top three money already? Seems crazy to me.

I agree with this sentiment. I don't see money being the deciding factor, regardless of the outcome.

Ultimately, it'll come down to whether or not Jimbo would prefer coaching in Baton Rouge, as opposed to Tallahassee, come 2017. I have little doubt that LSU would be more than glad to have him here - I certainly would be.

The only guy who should get Saban money is Tom Herman. Jimbo does not impress me. How many people hated him when he was here in the Saban years? I would not break the bank to get Jimbo by any means.
