Why would he go to the NFL?

He's already got an NFL team in Tuscaloosa and he gets paid like an NFL HC too.

He's stays and wins about 5 more championships....for better or for worse.

Johnny Manziel and Kevin Sumlin. As bad as I hate A&M, the SEC West dynamic has changed, and I see Saban having trouble with A&M for the foreseeable future, although I give him credit for being the best coach in college football right now. That, and the fact he failed in the NFL before, and he still has something to prove there. Guess it depends on what he wants his legacy to be when he's dead and gone.

So says Pete Carroll on his 3rd try at the NFL. Saban wants to prove that he can make it and has what it takes to succeed at the NFL level.

You dont think its killing him that Harbough, Carrol, and Schiano are having the success they are in the NFL and he couldnt do that? Saban is all about challenging himself and what is there left for him to do at Bama?

I don't necessarily think he is going, but this is probably the only offseason I could ever imagine him leaving. Just because it is obvious there is nothing to necessarily prove anymore in the college game for him and the nfl coaching vacancies. If he doesn't go this offseason I definitely believes he is at Bama until he retires.

Agreed. I think he sees the NFL as the only mountain left unclimbed. The question is whether this bothers him or not.

But if he retires from college football right now, he goes down as one of the five greatest college coaches ever, if not the greatest.

Pretty impressive what Harbaugh and Carroll have done with their QB's not being stellar like Brady, Brees, etc.

Saban is more of a cookie cutter coach, you have to adapt more in the NFL because of player changes and schemes and personnel you have because of free agency.

Saban can win without stellar QB's but his style makes it difficult to dominate.

Saban likes college football because he can control that but in the NFL it's not about dominating because you will never be able to do that - you have to manage the game and make the playoffs.

Dominating the most dominant conference in the history of college football in a scholarship limit era makes him number 1 to me.

He has nothing left to accomplish. He should go to the NFL. There are a lot of good jobs open. Why not?

Schiano

Schiano hasn't done anything in the NFL Saban hasn't. Poor example.

I would throw the most epic house party if Saban bolted.

Sadly he is not going to. And I don't see a competitive guy like that retiring anytime soon either. Hopefully he has a career dwindle like Bobby Bowden.

Is he still at Bama?

It would be in the best interest of LSU, TAMU, UF, UGA, and Auburn to just pony up $1M/yr for 5 years to give to the Browns to offset Saban's $10M salary.

Not soon enough, I have no respect for him at all for the way he lies about staying then jumps ship.
