What's the holdup? Seems like the move would have already been made

Does this mean that if they can't convince Harbaugh to take the job, then Rich Rod is staying?

Stanford hasn't played their game yet.

Probably want a quick transition like Edsall to Maryland.

Well, they just played yesterday, and it is Sunday, so I am guessing he will meet with Rich Rod tomorrow or Tuesday and make a decision. The timing of the Stanford game is key too.

He said after the game that he would talk with RR when they both got back to Ann Arbor. Said not to expect to hear from him again until the end of next week I think. I think that means the gears will be turning the next few weeks. I would expect that they have feelers out through back channels with several names. I think there top 2 candidates would be Harbaugh and Miles both of which prob will not talk until after their respective bowl games. Big name coaches use the back channels to express interest. With public schools and freedom of information act the only way to quietly pursue a big name coach is with a search firm and through their agent. I think these steps are already being done.

I think Hoke may be option 2.

As in, we win. We get a huge upgrade at OC. Miles continues to recruit well,

That'd be a great day.

maybe so, but I find it difficult to overlook that he has only had three winning seasons as head coach in 8 total seasons...

Sure, he has shown the ability to turn a program around, but he hasn't shown that he can build and maintain a program.

Will be interesting to see how things pan out...

I think it's Harbaugh's job to turn down.

I don't anticipate Miles going to Michigan. So the goon squad on here who hates his guts are just going to be miserable until he's gone.

Miles can sooth the restless fan base with a stellar OC hire...I cringe at the prospect of another year with Gary...

The group of degenerates I'm talking about are going to hate him regardless of results and regardless of who he hires for OC.

That is all it will take

And even if Chavis jumps ship to Texas, Les can more than make up for that loss by hiring Randy Shannon

I worry what LSU would do if Michigan did hire Les. Not sure who would be REALISTICALLY be available

Off the top of my head:
Malzahn
Leach
Tubberville

None of those would be a slam dunk hire IMO

Lots of folks would be realistically available but maybe not many who have the same background that Miles and Saban had or are in situations that they were in before they came here - coaching at a little brother school and hungry for an opportunity at a flagship school. Those seem to be the coaches that people on here usually look for.

I think that Les can quiet the idiots by getting us to a BCS bowl, cutting out the stupid time management gaffes, and improving his interviewing skills...

I am not sure if there are any slam dunk candidates. But at least those three bring something to the table...
