What are the Responsibilities of a Coach?

I don't think most people on this board can agree on a coaches responsibilities, let alone the "whys" of how one would be better/worse than another.

ie, CEO is blamed for the losses at Alabama and Florida as if he actually carries the ball. others think Herman is a better choice because he's original, like requiring players to where"?"

I think his ability to lead is most important. Lead and challenge the players to improving themselves both mentally and physically.

His ability to select and surround himself with a competent staff, respected by the players and himself

If he simply succeeds here they will become winners and attract winners; little recruiting necessary.
