Something that you'd ever post?

Random, I've sort of been able to piece together from reports and events of the last 12 months that the people that control the political levers of power at LSU simply did not have the political will to enter into serious negotiations with elite candidates.

I think they wanted to give the appearance that they were investing to be elite, but in actuality they were hoping to luck out and get one of the top 2 on a bargain. A real search wasn't conducted, and the expectations for Orgeron kept lowering. I think they took the easy way out.

The budget crisis still looms large over the athletic program, and I don't know if we'll be able to invest in being elite until that is fixed. Orgeron was a godsend to these guys. He gave them something they could sell to the fans and be a stopgap to this tumultuous time.

If they were serious about going after Fisher, or other qualified coaches, they would've waited it out and met face-to-face to make their pitch.

I have to ask, though, what happened to all the talk of Mike Gundy and Larry Fedora?
Gundy was ahead of Fedora. When Herman was jerking is around I think Alleva thought "why am I letting this guy shop LSU around? I've got a guy in place now that would die for LSU." And he went with it.
2 things
-Hiring O was a impulsive move to say the least.
-I honestly think O's gonna do a great job. Much the same way Trump will do well. If he doesn't know, he'll go get the best that does. I personally wanted Jimbo more than anyone.

They couldn't wait, the media was already carving them up saying that they've had x amount of time to have everything figured out. It was a PR nightmare. It was almost a battlefield promotion

I think that's what disappointed me the most.

Let's hope you're right about Orgeron. I really thought Jimbo was going to be our next coach, so it's hard to reconcile the drop in expectations.

Everything with Alleva ends up being a clusterfrick. He's not an executor; a closer.

Murphy, Miles 2015, Nutrition center, Florida situation, Coaching search.

He has tarnished LSU's brand in the last 12 months alone more than anyone could do if they tried.

He has to go.

I think Jimbo will come to regret his choice. Or maybe not. It was a perfect fit though. A very seasoned championship coach with tons of tread left on the tires. It's heartbreaking, but have to rally behind O now

What do you know about Aranda? Is the story about him signing the new contract tomorrow true?

Had influence but not to near the capacity as last year.

The rip cord was pulled at the last second. The domino effect is cataclysmic. Jimbo has the entire offseason to get ready. You beat Wisconsin (who only makes your resume look good the rest of the way) and you beat Auburn. You've got a great shot at Bama at home with Aranda keeping it close. They could be 1 loss or undefeated. They would be a playoff team. I know there's tons of what ifs and speculation but this scenario isn't far fetched

Cop out. In response, a simple statement: "As the season is just now concluding, the next phase of our search is to meet in person with interested candidates whose season's just finished. This will allow us to better assess the man that will lead LSU into the future and help us reach our goals of competing for and winning championships."

It was the first order of business when O met with Alleva about the job. Even before what needs to happen to bring Kiffin in. EVERYBODY is on board with doing whatever it takes to lock Aranda in for as long as possible. (FWIW.... I wouldn't be shocked if he is the HC at LSU one day.)

Yep, the regular season wasn't even over yet for most teams. The rush was absurd.

I think recruiting coupled with the Thanksgiving Herman fiasco fueled it. It was a panic move.

You're the clown asshat.
Stop making useless threads. Or just stop posting.

Random has given more info than you will ever give.

Chicken should start a gossip board. You'd be a hit there.

Now frick off.

This is my point. Some think everything should have been ironed out by now, others think that a methodical process is the way to go.

It should have been, but just because it wasn't doesn't mean you settle for O at 7 AM on Saturday. Take your time and weather the storm. Frankly, I would have just given Jimbo what he wanted.
