I doubt he calls the game.

He did see it. When do you think Riley was interviewed.
Ok. Then were his comments about waiting until after the bowl game bullshite, or is he being forced to alter his original plan because of the recruiting backlash? Or is he still waiting? He's made other comments that haven't lined up, like his conflicting messaging on QB recruiting.
I understand that these interviews are going on. With that being the case, maybe he did act before the perception that we see. However, as I stated before, perception falls on him too, and that is obviously an issue right now. I'm not making this up. There are recruits who are openly on the record questioning the direction of our offense. That is a very bad look this late, especially with EEs. He needs to get that messaging turned around.
Again, I want O to succeed, but there are some red flags here.

Seems liked it. OU will likely give him a nice pay bump.

I agree with that. The only thing I disagree with is the offer to Tua. It was a stupid offer. I don't think he could have saved Moses and Allen. I don't care about losing BDP. He was awful, Allen was never coming. Once he makes this hire of Canada it should energize the fan base and potential recruits. Barton Simmons and Bruce Feldman have already stated this would be a huge get for LSU.

The bowl game statement was because of Kiffin.

thanks, good stuff
riley is definitely worthy of any bump in pay. he's got some crazy skill position guys coming back next year.

I hope that we land Canada we need some good news after these last 2 weeks

The two constants I heard were Power Spread and Texas recruiting.
I know I am rapid firing at you, but the power spread thing is interesting. Out of our candidate pool, the only one who really runs a power spread is Kiffin, and he's only done it for one year. Gilbert is veer and shoot. Helfrich is spread option. Riley is more of a pass-first guy. Canada is the closest, but most would call his offense this year pro-style because it was mainly run under center and he didn't have a DT QB.
Are all of these guys being asked to convert and actually run a power spread here, or is that term just being thrown around generically?

I'm with you. I don't put Moses or Allen on O. Not at all. I don't think they come here if Miles is the coach right now, either. I am referring to the issues with 3 committed offensive players, and a potential next man up RB who was a lean at one point. All of the issues with them have come since O's hire, like the left-field offer to Tua.

Glad that domino fell.

Ok. So if that is the case, then O will probably announce a hire as soon as an understanding is reached, right?
I just wish he hadn't made that public. The perception after is that we waited and still missed. If Kiffin had gotten the Houston job, then this wouldn't be an issue. But he didn't just not get it, Fertita went on radio and put him on blast as not being a serious candidate (which was bush league, in itself). Then he takes a very low-level job just to be a head coach.
If we get the guy we want and recruiting settles down, it won't matter. In the meantime though, it's negative recruiting fodder for opposing coaches. Nothing sells like instability when it comes to negative recruiting.

Kiffin told O he was coming. O was operating on the word of his friend. (Not like many would trust Kiffin) O offered Tua because at that time Kiffin was coming. I don't see anything wrong with offering the top QB in the country.
These "perceptions" are falsely created by bored people on message boards and radio shows that need to fill their shows with something.
Judge on after his hires, signing day, and next season. Quit judging after 2 weeks. It's ok to be positive. LSU fans like to be miserable. Historically keep a class together after a coaching hire is impossible. What O has done for the most part keeping the class together is remarkable. As Interim HC, he could give out more offers.

Agreed. If he finishes with a top 5 class it's phenomenal. Top 10 is great.

So just to be clear, if this post can be trusted, LSU did not hire its first or second choice for OC. We now have our third choice OC playing for our third choice HC. Dat binder, though.

With all the hate on O, I do not believe any other hire could've kept it together like he has.
