I'm not sure but I vaguely remember the BCA actively putting pressure on schools to hire Gill.

All the KU folks I know are really hoping for Leach. Pretty surprised that Gill got fired, $6m is a lot to spend for KU football. They had about 25k in the stadium for the last home game this year.

I don't think a coach's name has ever been thrown around more for openings than Leach's.

I don't understand why he's fired. It's virtually impossible to win at KU with their resources and clout (or lack thereof), and it's overwhelmingly a basketball school on top of that. I just don't understand why one would get rid of him after just 3 years. Is there something I don't know that warranted his firing?
