Could be holding out for more money or better offers. This seems to happen every year where a coach agrees in principle (ie, verbally), but never signs the letter of intent or contract and then bolts later in the process.

Shouldn't be a long wait. Smart move by Herman.

If he has another strong season at Houston he's going to be a rock star name. Georgia an excellent job but he'll have his pick of equal or better with another good year.

If he was offered the Georgia job, he's dumb for not taking it. A lot can happen in a year.

I agree. Because of its location and division, I think UGA is one of the top jobs in the country.

Doesn't get much better than UGA. It's a high quality job that just doesn't come up very often. If he turned it down, which I have no clue if he was offered or not, he is definitely waiting for a certain job, likely Texas.

I think that pretty much seals the deal.

Who the hell is going to end up at USC?

There's movement among the fan base to go get Lincoln Riley.

Other names being considered are:

Chad Morris
Will Muschamp
...

And it dries up from there. This has gone as poorly as it possibly could.

Agreed.

If he's staying at Houston, he's obviously waiting out the Texas job, but he's making a huge gamble that next season is as good as this one.

He doesn't have his style of QB at UGA though. He could kill it with the type of QBs Texas and TAMU are recruiting.

If LSU gets Herman next year we have two DAMN GOOD QBs in the 2017 class in Louisiana that would be perfect for his offense.

South Carolina Should check out Montgomery from Tulsa as well. Recruiting ties in Texas and is a Briles disciple.

Call me crazy, but I want a coach with Carolina connections. USC's greatest success, and its most beloved players (with the notable exceptions of Shaw and Brewer) have been kids out of the Carolinas. Texas ain't exactly close to Columbia.

I genuinely believe that the path to success with this job means making South Carolina the premier destination for a kid playing hs football in the Carolinas.
