Would you still want him if we couldn't retain Coach O and Dave Aranda with him?

Definitely. He's my #1 anyway, and I don't see him bringing his DC here anyway.

I seriously doubt he would not keep them. He knows full well how important defense is, and these guys are the best in the business. Their recruiting ability is also extremely potent.

Jimbo won't be bringing any defensive guys over from FSU to replace them. There's a reason he wants more money for better assistants

Yes, but I think he would do what he could to keep both.

I can't wait to hear the moans and cries, circa 2005....

If we take Jimbo, we deserve what we get. We will remain Saban's bitch, mark my words.

If O doesn't get the job I'll be very surprised if he goes back down to being our D Line coach.

Yes but I do love O and Aranda. Head coach is that important. There are plenty other good or great staff coaches. That said if Orgeron loses one or less the rest of the way he has to have the job.

Jimbo is the best candidate by a longshot if Herman is out of the equation. Elite 11 top flight qbs flock to Jimbo every year. At the end of the day, quarterback play is what wins championships. On top of that, Jimbo has 2 national championships (one as OC at LSU and one as head coach). NO candidate can even compare to his resume. Fisher will want to keep Aranda, I promise you. Orgeron is gone because he will get a head coaching gig somewhere else.

Yes. He has LSU ties, knows how to develope talent on the offensive side of the ball(especially a QB), he is a proven national championship coach, and would have the money to get good defensive coaching. I personally think he would want to keep Aranda and Coach O here.

If O doesn't stay at LSU I hope A&M hires him.

If Chip Kelly and Tom Herman are not available, Jimbo Fisher is the best coach available for LSU.

Fisher could find coaches that can recruit / coach defense at LSU, and the administration would likely give him the money necessary to get the kind of coaches he needs.

In short? He's not my first choice, but Fisher is still a home run. I'll take him no matter what conditions surround his hiring.

This.

He knows that you need a great defense to win, and we already have one. I just don't see him not wanting to retain one of the best DC's in the game.

Yes, because I think he would be able to get someone like Bo Pelini to be the DC.

I would absolutely take Jimbo if Aranda stays.

Would be huge IMO.

Herman is absolutely my #1
