The concern over Miles among the UM insiders, or so it has been reported, is that they don't want egg on their face when Miles publicly flirts and then says no thanks. Miles knows this. Therefore, regardless of whether he stays or goes, it will happen through back channels and very quickly.
Assume for the moment that Harbaugh is the target hire. He has already been contacted through his agent and has either said "I'm interested" or "I am not interested." Once he has said the latter, then and only then will there be a stare-down over Miles.
Miles would not want this to be a leverage situation. His agent will have one phone call with the UM AD (if he has not already), and will either say "yes" or "no." The AD goes to the board and says "Les is ready" or "Les is not an option." If the former, then money will not be an issue and it will get done quickly, probably within 2 days. There won't be flights to track. There won't be awkward press conferences full of double talk. It will be quick and surgical.
Btw, my money says he gone.

Is there truly any credible evidence or source that really thinks Miles is even considering a move to UM? Or any credible evidence or source that UM is going to go after him again?

he's the odds on favorite this time around. how about you let this just play out?

Nope. All just speculation at this point. But Vegas wouldn't have him as a 5-1 favorite if there wasn't something to it. And even the most disinterested observer has to acknowledge that the stars appear to be lining up this time.

why wouldn't les have a quick presser and squash this right now?

MIles is driving a pimped out Mercedes right now. Why would he sell it and trade for a 1989 piece of shite chevy blazer just cause he had one in college?

what is there to squash besides fan speculation? les is under contract and most likely hadn't even been contacted by UM.

As a "Michigan man" with (limited) insider info, the rumblings about Miles are very real. Miles wasn't really wanted...we entertained the idea, but he still had that Miles "stigma". We thought we could do better and we did (Rich Rodriguez). Michigan wasn't patient enough with Rodriguez and we let go of a great coach for someone completely inept.
-Barring some other deceitful, stabbing in the back of Jim Harbaugh, we won't get him. I think he stays in the NFL...most likely at the NY Jets or potentially Giants? Just a gut feeling...
-John Harbuagh isn't leaving Baltimore. Toss that name out.
-Bob Stoops is one that has some serious merit. He's got a great gig going on at Oklahoma, but you have to remember that he's a Big 10 guy (from Ohio and went to school at Univ. of Iowa). We can write a bigger check than Oklahoma dreams of. That $100 Million donation by Stephen Ross may be enticing to swing Stoops in.
-Les Miles. He's a great recruiter. He's a good coach. He's older than most...I'm not sure if he's the right guy to "rebuild" the program. He'll be given a serious shot, but I'd be surprised if he ended up here.
-Dan Mullen - not a serious candidate in my opinion.
-Chuck Martin - he had great success at Grand Valley...abysmal year at Miami this year, but that doesn't mean much as it was his first season. Michigan will probably go after a bigger name, although I think he's a really good coach.
-Greg Schiano - this has been discussed a bunch. He's got great college and NFL ties (Penn State, Rutgers, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay). I'd be fine with the hire.

michigan is trying to deny it but the answer is obvious, or it should be obvious to them.

Maybe LSU can develop an offense with a real QB now.

I think this is a long shot
quote:
If those fail, well...then you got Les
Your only shot at Les is to make him an offer AT WORST right after you move on from Harbaugh. The thought that Les would be just waiting for the offer to come is laughable. He'll never be a fallback option.
Now, if Michigan were to target Miles, show him love, ask him to come back and return Michigan to glory, you'd have a shot. But, the scenario you described is homerism at its finest.
