At the end of the day its EXTReMELY difficult to get successful coaches to leave their current jobs. Bama lucked out w saban bc he was trying to get out of nfl. Same w arky and petrino. Lets face it, if les retired tomorrow urban meyer and nick saban arent on a plane to BR

Can't be too hard if we get coaches to leave BCS programs and quit NFL jobs.

Sounds like a LSU problem.

You got petrino to leave the vick-less 3 win falcons and u got mike gundy after striking out w the big candidates. Awesome job! .575 win percentage in big 12 translates to what at comparable sec program?

At least Little Nicky had the balz to finish the season when he knew he couldn't play with the big boys.

Going from tier 2 ok state to tier 1 lsu is a little different than going from a tier 2 big 12 job to a tier 2 sec job when bama, lsu, tamu, uf, usce, and uga are as strong as they are right now.

.500

I'll run through the excuses real quick for you:
-took over a dumpster fire
-Big 12 was stronger back then
-second fiddle in his own state
-had to play Texas and OU every year
-blah blah blah

The thing is, finding the right guy is more art than science. Wins and losses on a lower level can fool people into thinking a guy is better or worse than he really is. You have to find a guy that has the right approach and fits your school, and then give them every available resource you can and the best chance to succeed.

Although it was clever of him to obtain more money and squelch any rumors of him leaving for maximum recruiting

I think his on-field coaching abilities are not great by any means. I wish he had left. I also predict that it will not end well for him at LSU.

I dont know y its so hard for u guys to realize that this comparison is irrelevant. Les went from a middle of the pack school to a school w more in state talent, resources, etc. It was an upgrade....not a lateral move like this one.
Im trying to figure out an analogy that may help u guys get it. Lets try this.

Assume an arky fan can download x number of videos of barnyard animals making sweet love from his 28k modem. Then lets assume that hes able to seek out the wealthiest man in fayetteville who sprung for the 56k modem. Wouldnt he then be able to download more animal porn?

Awesome......."success" is now defined as third place in a 6 six team division.

Good point. Going 13-1 is really bad not to mention an 80% wining ratio.

I'm sorry. You are a Saints fan. You know all about success this year don't you?
