The REAL reason Les is asking for an 8 win clause

Les is about to turn down his dream job in order to be the very definition of a "Michigan Man" here at LSU. This is his LAST chance to be the head coach of Michigan, and he is contemplating turning that down. I don't blame him for asking for that clause. He just saw how Mack Brown, Urban Meyer, and Mark Richt all had tough seasons. Les just wants to be assured that he's not going to snub Michigan once again just to be canned a year or two later if he has an 8 win season. An 8 wins is 8 wins. Its not like he asked for a 4 win clause. If we had an Ole Miss type year, I'm sure he would step down.

Les just wants to know he has the support of the Tiger administration before he makes the biggest decision of his coaching career.

NO!! He wants an 8 win clause so he can coast and only win 8 games for eternity! It's the only conclusion that makes sense!!!

8 win clause is fine with me IF we get a Fire the coordinator clause if offense ranks in the hundreds!

Do we no of any factual information that he actually wants a clause?

I think this was just someone's summary of Les asking for a little support from the administration.

We lose at least two games every year. Attention to detail is key now that the SEC has become even more competitive. My main problem with Les. Alleva was right to criticize after 2009, the Ole Miss debacle was inexcusable.

uh, Miles just saw RR get fired for 7 wins at the place wooing him. He knows 8 wins is bottom line for either school. He knows he can always do it here, just doesnt want to get canned for it.

meh, If 5 losses is OK for a $4 mil coach, then let him go.

It really should depend on how you lose those five games, not just the magic number of 5. If they are Troy, Tenn, Ole Miss, Arky, McNeese debacles, then "a clause" shouldnt protect him from reality

This is perfectly legit and totally understandable, esp. looking at the years Brown, Meyer, and Saban had, and the grief he took over '08 and '09, and the first six games (wins) of this 11-2 season. I support his request 100%.

I think this is it. He wants assurances and job security. Too many people in power don't like him and he quite possibly could have lost his job this year if some things didn't work out (UT game). I don't blame him one bit - try hard to win another BCSNC in next 2 years, then make sure top assistants are on staff to do most of the work for the next 5 years. If he only wins 8 - no big deal - he may have 1/2 titles, big salary and the CEO/ Coach position like a Mack Brown.

I don't blame him one bit. He just had an 11 win season and the douchebag patrol on this board still want him gone.

I agree with this completely. The people who think that any coach wants to have 8-win seasons every year are completely ridiculous.

I think this is the heart of the matter.
If he leverages his success now, it just shows he has been paying attention.

If miles thinks he shouldn't get heat after multiple 8 win seasons, then he isn't the competitor i thought he was.

this is stupid, he didn't get fired for 8 wins last time. no one is going to fire him for a bad season here and there. with that said, he shouldn't be rewarded for a bad season either. 8 wins going 3-5 in conference is a bad season.

i really don't understand why his feeling are hurt about how things have been handled.

I bet he wouldn't want a clause that drops his salary to 1.2million a year if he only wins 8 games.
