Dont coaches like to know who the boss will be long term?

The interim ad, is not a pro ad. He is a lawyer. Texas cant even get on the same page on whether the ad should be interim or not.

The Texas president is brand new and doesnt have the pull yet of past. Big money donors have to much pull.

The days of Deloss Dodds are over, and i dont think ut really knows who is guiding the ship.

All this is to say, Texas has a toxic culture among the whole school with to many people meddling where they shouldn't be.

They have a less talented team, have slipped to the fourth best program in the state, have a losing culture in the past five years, still has not had an offensive linemam drafted in probably ten years, etc. They are in a state that doesnt produce dline or oline prospects.

A bigtime coach would be crazy to go there over the current situation at Lsu. Lsu is a win now program, Texas is a rebuild.

And all this speculation that Texas is Hermans dream job is based on message board fodder.

At Texas, the winning football coach IS the boss. Same at Bama. You think Saban has to "answer" to Bill Battle? Nope. Whoever the next coach is at Texas doesn't have to "answer" to an AD as long as he's winning.

LSU's administration is not exactly the model of well run efficiency.

Wrong. At Texas the football coach reports into the LHN

Anyone who has won as much as Saban would not have to answer to anyone. It wouldn't matter what school he coached for.

Which again is true for any school.

This argument basically helps out LSU as it would mean our current administration's failures and shortcomings would not be a factor. A winning coach is the "boss".

While this is true, to act like Louisiana is the beacon of efficiency is laughable. From the very top with the Governor, to the LSU president, to the AD, to the boosters...LSU isn't any better.

You clearly have no clue about the culture of Austin and it's power brokers. Totally different than Birmingham.

If there's one thing i learned about UT while living in Austin, it's that the power brokers there are at war with each other for ego/political reasons. This includes but goes well beyond the athletic program. This is our best hope of getting herman but of course our house hasn't exactly been in order either.

Absolutely - this is our best hope. Big Money Donor egos in Austin, plus those in Dallas and Houston and San Antonio (Red McCombs), could very well mess this up for UTexas. Herman's a MENSA guy and knows all too well how political the Longhorn job is.

People are overestimating UT. They dumped Brown and ended up with Charlie Strong. That's the best they could do.

The theory for this is that Herman and Oliver Luck are friends and that if Texas hired Herman he would convince Luck to come be the new AD.

Luck will want absolute control and I don't think the boosters and the insiders at the school are willing to give it up.

The entire athletic department at UT right now is run like LSU's basketball program. Old timers calling the shots who are not even officially part of the program.

UT offers money, and the fact that they are the alpha dog in the Big XII - nothing happens in that conference without their approval.

From the reports out of Texas for years, has shown the massive amount of confusion. So YES LSU and Louisiana is much better.

You guys have spun your own twisted web that nobody, even Bama, can't compete with. Fact
