Would love to see him do well there, and I expect him to get another decent HC job soon.

ESPN article mentioned in 4 years the opening game for USF is Texas... hopefully both Coach's are still in place...

This seems like a better fit for him.

He's going to get a lot of talent there. USF isn't going to be a perennial playoff contender, but it is a bit of a sleeping giant imo in that every few years the talent will have them in position for breaking into the top 10. Hell they've done it before.

Why is that a solid hire? Not trying to be ugly, just curious.

Likeable guy. He will coach the hell out of that area. Probably has a lot of relationships with folks in the area still.

Strong has "strong" connects in Florida, USF has a lot of talent and is on an upswing, Strong is a big name hire for a mid-major and he's looking to prove himself. Obviously a players' coach, and I think USF will buy into him.

Ok I see. What happened at Texas, he completely butchered that job. How could he have been that awful?

Yeah, they got all the way to #2 in that crazy 2007 season.

Strong never had a chance at Texas. Most of the big money backers did not want him when he was hired.

He's riding into USF on a high horse. He will be well received there. It seems a perfect fit for him.

I wish him the best.

The "Big Money Backers" didn't play one single down of Offense, Defense or Special Teams, nor did they recruit or organize any aspect of that program.
