ARTICLE in local Business Report yesterday regarding a recent $14 Million dollar loan payoff/refi for Rouzan. If I remember correctly, I believe Saban was involved in this real estate development project with Spinosa, too (as he was also involved in Perkins Rowe with Spinosa, which went south). Last year a local businessman (Enquist) bought the note from the original lender and was apparently paid off this week or last.

There's been a few other comments made here on the CC Board (ETA: by TheDoc and possibly others) stating some big wigs at UT have recently paid off Saban's debt as a "down payment" towards his new coaching salary/position at UT.

Coincidence? Or could this be proof of the next step in the hiring of Saban to UT? FWIW - I don't know many banks around that would want to make a $14 million loan on vacant land to a guy with as much financial trouble as Spinosa is rumored to be having.

Who knows, a bunch of things are said to be in motion for a number of weeks.

The fans are getting impatience because of social media...and our desire for immediate information.

Once Mack steps down, then the wheels will begin to turn.

Until that happens, nothing happens publicly.

But I do believe Saban is taking the job and Big UT boosters are hooking up Saban like never before in the history of coaching.

Bama fans think they can match UT, but they can't even come close...

6 Billion versus 900 Million...= no contest..

the issue is whether Saban has one more challenge left in him...

62 isn't that old

My personal belief is, Mack is being forced out, and that wouldn't happen unless UT has their man.

If this has happened and Saban's debts were paid off, then this HAS been a done deal for some time.

No way that Saban can go back on this.

If so, then he has been lying like crazy to everyone the past few months - including recruits.

It does make you wonder why he is recruitng so hard, though. Maybe he is trying to set Alabama up to be successful, maybe he is recruiting them to come play for him wherever he is, or maybe it is just all he knows.

Or, maybe there is nothing to any of this.

We will see by next week.

Probably another factor in why this is taking so long. Much more involved than a standard contract to coach football. Had to get more legal review and input than Sexton could provide, based on his area of expertise?

Or maybe he is getting guys to sign a LOI to Nick Saban and not Alabama.

1) If it looks like he was mailing it in before taking the UT job Bama could sue his arse.
2) If he stays at Bama then he's maximizing his exposure vis a vis the UT thing with his biggest recruits. Pretty damn smart in my opinion.

I know you were being sarcastic, but Finebaum just said on mike and mike that he thinks Saban isnt allowing Sexton to talk with UT until Brown has actually stepped down. Said it has to do with the respect factor between coaches. Take it fwiw.
