Someone please explain to me how Briles was the Baylor scapegoat

And don't reference the goddamn election, for once.
All accounts I've read, yes through the media, point to the fact that he turned a blind eye to a players gang raping a girl.
I understand he's not in jail. I understand he may have been the scapegoat. I understand no one is in jail.
But I also understand that he was forced out, and at bare minimum it looks like he flat out ignored potential rape.
I want LSU offense to be great again as well, but can someone please provide me some backstory to help me hop on this wagon? I don't get why some are so hell bent on offense that they'd be willing to sacrifice integrity.
Am I missing something from this story besides "baw it's the media!!1"

when you turn an "blind eye" to players raping women it usually doesn't look good

The 60 Minutes about this was really bad.
They can prove he knew of allegations of several of his players and either didn't punish them or lightly punished them.
There were coverups going up to the administration and police force.

The thing is, the only people that actually know are Briles, the Baylor Regents (or whatever) and the Pep Hamilton law firm. There is a reason Baylor had the firm give them only an oral report and it was only privy to a very private few.
Briles may have been the #1 perpetrator or he might have been. Either way, he was the perfect scapegoat for the private university to throw under the rug.
Also, Briles brought a wrongful termination suit and Baylor settled it for (reportedly) almost the entire amount of his contract which is a little suspicious.
I dont think anyone thinks we actually hire him, just a bunch of people letting off frustration right now. He's unhirable.

So it sounds like total lack of institutional control that goes beyond Briles. That goes to the top of a Baptist school.

So why do we have threads with 99% up votes on bringing this scumbag in?
What the frick is wrong with this board?
I get we want to win and everyone is mad, but it's like a collective group is deciding to let this shite go

Yes, absolutely. Briles got fired and others didn't, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't have been fired.
It was really bad.

I hope all the Briles talk is just sarcasm. I don't want that guy anywhere near LSU. We put up 547 yards @ Arky and 622 yards @ aTm, with our TE coach calling the plays. Any competent OC that comes in here will be able to work wonders, especially someone like Kiffin (who might be a douchebag but didn't ignore rape allegations).

Because we're going to the dark side.
He's being rehabilitated and we can just monitor him on our shadow staff as an offensive consultant.

Exactly. Please delete this thread

Yea I'm all for that until we start joking about hiring this piece of shite
Those threads need to be deleted

Oh so because he institution is corrupt at its core, Briles gets a pass, because you wanna throw the football better

We're selling our souls.
Don't let this guy near anyone except our OC.
Gag order, lock down, only speaks to Orgeron and the OC in private film studies.

Coach O has been down that dark road
Let him counsel him back.
Sounds like he recruited questionable guys, and then let police police them

Yea it seems very clear he at least was aware of what was happening and did nothing just like Paterno. I don't want that piece of shite anywhere near LSU.

So he was forced out, which is the only evidence people are using to determine he is a terrible person, but then they laid him his contract following a lawsuit for wrongful termination? Are we allowed to consider that? Seems like a guilty man would be glad to get off without someone suing him, or worse.
This whole thing is all rumor and shady as shite.

I don't know much about the situation.
But.
Are you suggesting he should be blackballed from football completely? Does the man not deserve to make a living?
He got fired as a Head Coach. He wouldn't be a Head Coach. The issues at Baylor have nothing to do with being an Offensive Coordinator. Orgeron is the Head Coach. He's responsible for everything under him.
That said, it's my impression Briles is a pretty good man who was perhaps negligent at best but in no way a man who doesn't warrant a second chance to share his skills with elite athletes.

From the Baylor alum that I know and people who know Briles, he basically delegated the responsibility of player discipline and compliance. He is a pretty intense guy and he focused on the X's and O's of football more than the "management" of his program. Ultimately he is/was responsible. While he does have arrogance about him, nobody that I have talked to believe he knew what was happening. I don't like ignorance as an excuse, but it does beat the alternative I guess.
And I don't like the scapegoat label, it was his program and it happened under his watch. He needs to rebuild his credibility before he is given the keys to a program in my opinion.
So while I don't believe the narrative that he is a "monster" who knew what was going on and was ok with it....... I don't also whip the blame from him either.
