The only good reason for this to come out right now is that one side wants to get someone else.
Either Herman's agent leaked it to pressure Texas into making an offer, or LSU leaked it to get Jimbo to say yes.
The only other way this gets out is if an Orgeron supporter in the LSU office leaked it to try to create time to scuttle the deal.

How does Texas benefit by leaking this information? Can only think of negatives.
How does Herman's agents benefit by leaking this information? Lights a fire under Texas's arse and again get their client and themselves a bigger contract.
So yah, I think it's pretty obvious which one is the truth.
