Ok I think this thread needs to be changed. Seems like this is Schefter's gut feeling instead of actual news being reported

i don't get the chip kelly hype

Won a "NC" at the FCS level.

Turned Oregon from a mid-level Pac-12 school and made them into a legitimate power. He did that despite Oregon not having the kind of recruiting / players other schools in his conference did.

He's considered a 'brilliant' offensive mind, and, perhaps crucially, has now been in the NFL for 3 years with modest success.

In summary? He's got a damned good track record, an "NFL" cache that will allow him to recruit against anyone on Earth, and he's capable of engineering an exciting offense.

Why wouldn't you be hyped for that sort of coach coming to LSU?

lol

this is what the NCAA caught him doing, one can only imagine the shite they didnt have proof of.

quote:

On April 16, 2013, the Oregonian reported that the University of Oregon has offered to put its football program on two years probation in response to NCAA violations that allegedly took place during Kelly's tenure as head coach.[20] On June 26, 2013 the NCAA Committee on Infractions issued its report concluding the investigation into Oregon's use of football scouting services. Oregon received 3 years of probation, reduction of scholarships, but no bowl ban. Kelly received an 18-month show-cause penalty, which would make his hiring by another NCAA institution difficult; Kelly had already left the NCAA for the NFL.[21]

How illogical would it seem that LSU fired Les Miles to hire the guy Les defeated soundly in their only meeting?

Huh?

Kelly would likely implement the Oregon offense, not the Philadelphia offense.

The Eagles scored a ton of points in Kelly's first two years, by the way. Just another thing he could use to recruit high-schoolers.

Get him a competent defensive coordinator and he'll win a ton of games.

you mean optimum use of star talents spreading the field vertically and horizontally? similar spread option to what Meyer and Malzahn have used to defeat Bama? HUNH which has proven to wear down Bama and defenses? yeah how stupid.

let's stay with the I form BIg and normal formations!

You would think Kelly would go for the USC job because the Pac 12 is more of his type of league. However, I could see him wanting to take on the SEC gauntlet out of a sense of challenge.
