Saban's own words-

“I’m very committed to the University of Alabama, love being here,” he said in November. “We’ve talked about it before. Don’t need to talk about it again. “
But that didn’t stop the speculation and rumors that he was bound for Texas amid reports that Brown was on his way out.
I told yall to listen to your bartender!

Did Saban actuallly sign the contract?

“Terry and our family are very happy in Tuscaloosa. It has become home to us. This agreement allows us to continue to build on the tremendous success that we have enjoyed to this point - successes that have transcended the football field. We are excited about the future and the University of Alabama is where I plan to end my coaching career."

Let me see if I have this correct:
1) Mack Brown appears to be leaving as reported by numerous accounts.
2) Saban is under consideration to replace Brown.
3) Saban is presented with a new contract by Alabama.
4) Saban ignores the new Alabama contract for a week or more.
5) Word leaks out from Texas that Brown is likely to be given one more year.
6) Saban immediately agrees to contract that has been on his desk for a week.
Does that sound like Saban REALLY wanted to stay in Tuscaloosa??? Hmmmmmm????

Not that I was ever convinced that he would leave but just because he said he was committed doesn't mean a whole lot. Coaches lie all the time about what their plans are. Some even claim to have a change of heart after they said they were committed to a job.

dont confuse corn dogs with actual quotes. Due to how the Miami deal went down they will never twist his words. People can change and I think NS understands how his words while the Miami coach hurt his credibility back then. Never again.

Of course he said that. He also said he was not leaving and then he left. It is what you are supposed to say. Duh.

Yeah. He was kinda busy, visiting folks like Fournette and Brown and Tabor this past week to waste time flying back to TTown to do what he already knew he was going to do.

Oregon is nowhere close to the program Alabama is. Nor are the coaches similar in personalities or the compensation the same.

Yet UA felt the need to offer a new and improved contract extension even after this statement. If everyone in gumpland new he was staying no matter what, why the need for another extension?
The fact that UA had to offer another carrot was what helped fuel the speculation. But you refuse to address that issue, how convenient

Just let me say, first and foremost, that the corndog reference you use in every post NEVER gets old! I'm serious, that's the funniest shite on the internet.
As for what Saban and pretty much every other coach says when asked about other jobs: notice they always use phrases like "I plan to retire here" or "I'm not interested in any other job at this time" instead of "I WILL retire here" or "I will never leave this job to be a coach anywhere else." That's the lesson he learned since he took the Bama job and declared "I will not be the coach at Alabama." He learned not to be so definite in his wording. Having said that, I think he retires at Alabama and always thought that. Can all that change? Absolutely. Will it? Doubtful.
Preciate your interest in corndogs.
