Ringer U Podcast on LSU job Outlier candidate

Andy Staples of SI was guest on the podcast discussion of LSU coaching job. In a nutshell:
Top two candidates are Fisher and Herman. Spoke a little about why they would or would not come. Also threw out Petrino as a strong possibility but his connection to UL and Lamar Jackson on team may negate this.
The wild card discussion here was the outlier nobody is looking at: Chip Kelly. If LSU is another game or two lost going into Bama game and the 49'ers are like 2-6 then both LSU and the Niners bye week is the same week. Keep eye on the planes that week. They were just saying... can you imagine going into the Bama game that LSU hire CK and he comes in and puts in a 10 play offense in two weeks and Bama has no idea what we gonna run out there!

No. Chip Kelly teams hate defense, and put that unit on the field for vast swaths of the game.

Chip would crush it here. But everyone here is going to act like everyone sucks but tom herman, until someone is hired.

He had some decent defenses at Oregon.
Are we really in a position to turn down Chip Kelly? I understand if Herman or Jimbo are willing to come, but if both say no you think we turn down Kelly because "his team's don't like the play defense?"

LSU spanked Oregon with Les Miles, why would we want a no defense playing coach near LSU?

If they hired Chip Kelly, hypothetically because I don't think it's happening, he's not going to leave on the bye week and just start coaching LSU mid season

Would be an awesome hire but I think he would take an assistant job in the nfl before he came back to college. I have heard and read he didn't like recruiting or putting up with boosters.

Chip is progressive and adaptable. He's not afraid to change things up. That said, there are enough athletes here in state that he can field both a good offense and a good defense.

Chip Kelly is my #1, with Tom Herman a very close second. (1a / 1b situation)
Chip Kelly is proven in college and has a better NFL resume than Saban. Combine that with LSU's unique situation and great college atmosphere and you have a recruiting powerhouse.
I think Herman is a 90% success possibility - the pressure of a big job is the only genuine unknown.
Kelly? You think the pressures of being the head coach at LSU will be a problem for him when he managed to have moderate success in Philadelphia?

That was pretty much the opinion of the participants in the Podcast I linked above if LSU gets Herman, Fisher, or Kelly...
LSU has done what it has with only mediocre offense over the years. It would be batshit crazy to think what they could do with a top drawer offense...

That was a pipe dream discussion of outlier stuff. It was just thinking out loud dream talking but the kicker here is that it is possible. The supposition was that Kelly would be fired by SF but I don't see that happening in NFL that early on a first season coach.

Oregon = 3's maybe a few 4's
