I'm a lifelong LSU fan, alumnus and diehard. But the reality is that last year's debacle created by Bobby Jindal has rendered F. King and Alleva, respectively, as much of a lame duck as Miles going into this season.

The point being that our negotiating power was gutted significantly. The next 3-4 days will truly tell us what the true value of our football program is in the eyes of the coaching community.

I want Fisher or Herman. But I honestly think Fisher is trolling us and I'm not in favor of giving Fisher carte Blanche in an act of desperation. If I'm Alleva, then make Fisher the best offer we can and tell Fisher to take it or leave it within 24 hours. If Fisher refuses, then you move down the list. But you don't let Fisher hold us hostage while giving UT time to get its act together and make a run at Herman.

Yes, I'm dead serious. By trying to play both candidates for too long you run the risk of not getting either.

I completely agree. We lose all control when we appear desperate.

Who besides Herman and Fisher do you think can elevate our program?

And there's clearly a reason you aren't currently in a position to make such decisions

We fired Miles after week 4. Someone name a single coach who indicated he wanted the job.

Guys, I love LSU. But, I'm dealing in the reality of what's transpired and currently transpiring.

Well, then I'm glad you're comfortable with the leadership at LSU because I'm not.

The coach game always includes pursuing multiple candidates.. you enter negotiations with one while placating the other.. this is always the smart move.. we seem to have entered the serious phase with Jimbo.. there is a deadline.. he has a window that will close and you move on if he doesn't accept.. that's how all negotiations happen..

Exactly. They understand the situation. Decisions may or not work out but they get it

I hope you're correct. I'm not saying we won't hire Jimbo, but that I'm worried about Alleva's ability to close the deal.

At this point, I don't think u can blame Alleva with what Jimbo decides. He ultimately wants to come to LSU or not.

I don't blame Alleva for Jimbo's decision. I blame Alleva if he allows Jimbo to drag out his decision to the detriment of LSU.

The reality is, we don't have a flipping clue what's been going on with the coaching search. The only sure thing, the thing that makes the most sense, is the Jimbo is the top candidate. If Alleva cares about his own job, he goes after Jimbo.

As we saw last year, Alleva has bosses and while I don't have full faith in his coaching decisions, last year he zeroed in on the guy we wanted then and now. He can only take the process so far before others bless his decisions

I agree that it's not totally Alleva's call so let me rephrase. I'm concerned about the ability of the LSU administration (AD, president, and BOS) to negotiate and close the deal that's best for LSU and Louisiana.

I think a lot of people are missing the reality of the Jimbo situation. It's almost unheard of for a top paid, championship head coach to leave his current position unless it's for the NFL. Urban did it, but he sat out first and faked "health problems".

The chances of this being a threat for leverage toward FSU are so far greater. As much as we want to talk about how it makes sense for him to come here (and I believe it does), this would have been extremely difficult to pull off. That's just the reality.

I hope to god we have more options in place. The alternative is kind of scary to me.

I don't have the business acumen to comment on how Alleva needs to approach negotiations/offers. However, I don't think there's only two guys out there (Jimbo/Herman) to be looked at.

Jimbo's track record/trending is not that different from Les's and he's already in a fertile field at FSU. He would be an improvement but there isn't a lot there to suggest he would max out here. He's just a different type of Les.

As for championship prospects, I like Fuente and Gundy better.

Thank god your weak arse ain't the AD then. You act as if this a president trying to make a peace deal in the Middle East.

One of these guys is fixing to be one of the highest paid coaches in the country. If you are a coach looking for a challenge/ opportunity to win a title this is the job.
