I think this would show if he has what it take to become full time coach.

Grimes is doing good recruiting and paving the way for two backs that accumulated 2,000 yard this past year.

This dude ran the NFLPA and you want to test him out? He will likely be in the HoF as a player and you want to test him out? He can teach if he wants to as the QB of the OLINE in the NFL they have to know damn near as much as the QB and MLB for their position. This dude is smart, was a great player and NFL leader. It's a matter if he is willing to commit to recruit. That's it.
Yet you want to test him out.

Being an NFL OL coach probably checks off the "see if he can hack it as a coach" box. There's recruiting and handling immature kids but he's got the right personality to succeed there.

I don't want to test him out. I need to look at chicago ol this year v. Last year to see how hes done, but i dont think that a good indicator. Chicago sucked for a while and he can only do so much with what he is given. I want him. And he wants the job.

Honestly though, I believe, like many of the staff, Grimes was hampered by Les and the players he wanted to recruit. Without that, our OL may become what it should be.

The reason I say this is because I remember a quote from Gordy or someone on the sideline. He said in one of the first two games under O, a lineman got hurt and needed to be replaced and Grimes went to O and said this is what we should do, this is who we should put in, is that ok with you? And O looked at him and told him to coach his position, do what you think is best

Paraphrasing of course

Yeah the first thing Grimes wanted to do was try Pocic at Tackle.

He's not the Oline or assistant oline coach. Why are people saying he's an NFL oline coach

Remember seeing article he is with Bears in some capacity.

Think LSU should hire him, all pro number of years & interested in position when Grimes hired.

You act like as if LSU can just ask someone that has options to come to LSU for a peripheral position that doesn't pay well. LSU has to establish credibility under Coach O first before that can take place.

Our team as is isn't fully formed. A true shadow staff like you see at Bama is years away, at best.

He would 100% come to LSU if LSU offered.

Silly assumption to think KM would be a great coach just because he was a great player.

You still need the experience before you get you a big boy coaching job. That's what he's doing with the bears and he will be moving up the ranks soon enough, but it is silly to want to just hand him a SEC OLine coaching job just because he was a great player.

Silly assumption of me to assume that a guy who is assisting under one of the highest ranked OL coaches in the NFL and also has his own training class at traction might not have any coaching ability.

It's an overplayed argument "just because he was a great player doesn't mean"
