I wonder how many pages the "Saban to the Colts" thread will generate when he leaves Alabama to go back to the NFL?

Rational Bama fans (I know...an oxymoron) should just be damned happy for the success he brought to the program while he was there and wish him well.

That's what I did when he went to the Dolphins.

He's 64, but I agree with this.

Every year Saban gets a raise, why leave Bama if they keep paying you more than some NFL coaches make.
After the Miami disaster, I think he stays in college. With that said he's always looking if for nothing else to get that bump from Bama.
Only difference is Colts would give him Luck in the prime of his career. NFL is a QB driven league and I don't know if Saban can run an offense that is not manage the game instead of wide open you need to be in the NFL to succeed.

He's not leaving Bama until he retires.

He is a good coach but at Bama he has a massive talent advantage over 99% of the teams he plays. He will not have that in the nfl. I also don't think he can exert his will over nfl players like he can college kids.

Alabama is his last coaching job so their reaction will be to celebrate him in retirement.

He'd be stupid to leave and he's too old. He's a phenomenal college coach but his act doesn't work the same way on 25-30 year old millionaires as it does on powerless 17-22 year old college kids. He can keep stacking money and accolades off of the machine he's built until he's had his fill.

Can we just agree to ignore the sports media using his name every damn offseason to troll for ratings?

He'd be a fool to leave. He's the big fish in a little pond. Ego is the only thing that would push him back to the NFL.

I don't expect Alabama fans to be pissy about it.

LSU fan will somehow feel betrayed.

Coughlin coached the Giants until he was 69. This Saban and Colts rumor is yet another reason why I'm pulling for Bama next Monday. Another Natty allows him to either (a) retire "on top" as one of the--if not the--greatest college HC of all time or it allows him to (b) leave college "on top" and make another 3-5 year run at the NFL, armed this time with a true franchise QB.

A guy can dream, can't he?

It's going to be hard for Saban to refuse a 10+ million dollar per year contract and possibly GM authority over a team if it is offered.
