you're setting yourself up for disappointment, how many searches have we seen recently where an easy home-run hire couldn't have been further from the case, much less w/ this time frame

Miles and Crowton will be gone. I won't be too disappointed. I'm pretty sure our next head coach's name is listed here:

Patterson
Petersen
Pelini
Fitzgerald
Tuberville
Sumlin
Mullen

none would terribly disappoint me.

+ a frickin' million. there is not a guarantee we upgrade or even remain constant from where we are either at HC or as a staff overall.

People list these big names...

Saban and Miles are your precedents. Neither name would have appeared on any of these type lists at the time of those hires.

It will be someone like Larry Fedora

that's a best case list and sev of those guys have turned down jobs this yr already, guys like Fitzgerald and Tuberville? no thnx. Sumlin has done nothing. Given a lot of time and w/o the recruiting class on the line this late in the game, I'd be ok w/ taking a chance, but not under these circumstances

I would be more inclined to chalk that up as player confidence in themselves instead of lack of confidence in their coach, but I'm an LSU fan and I have seen Miles coach.

But according to Belowpar he is interviewing OC candidates.

Why would he care who LSU's OC was if he was planning on accepting the Michigan job on Saturday?

I'm not saying you are wrong. I am just saying this info doesn't jibe with what belowpar said.

just saying if we got desperate I could see us reaching out. I wouldn't be thrilled with it but I think we could do a lot worse.

Talking to a few of my coworkers who are Michigan alums, they are bummed they didn't get Harbaugh, but were never convined he'd come. They think Miles wants Michigan more than Michigan wants him, and that the AD is more interested in Hoke than even ESPN is reporting.

about half of those names are no guarantee to be a step up from where we are at HC. tuberville would be a guaranteed step down.

that can mean a number of things:
--he has not been contacted and would like to
--he has been contacted and does not know what to do
--he has been contacted but will not entertain the idea until after the Cotton Bowl
--he is having a melancholy period in his life
--he does not want to go thru the DRAMA as last time.

time will tell..I promise, it will all get solved.

It can also mean he's waiting for fourth down to spike the ball -----

Who has turned down jobs? Mullen and Pelini to Miami is the only ones i can think of..Miami is not what it once was, i dont blame them. Mullen was never offered the Florida job.

and Fitzgerald is a damn good coach

Also, they are not neccessarily upset about the potential move. They believe they will win a NC next year with or without Miles, although they would appreciate the continuity

Odds at winning a NC are higher if Miles leaves. Nothing to do with Miles as it has to do with teams in the BCS era that recently change coaches win NC with the one exception being Mack Brown at Texas.

and LSU would be more or less desperate. Tuberville cant recruit close to Miles and it remains to be seen if he even has the drive to compete vs the current SEC anymore after tanking at auburn. You're right though, LSU COULD do a lot worse. It'd be a step down from the current situation

IMO, whoever follows Miles as HC here will be out of nowhere, and someone that hasn't even been discussed on here.

Is there someone that fits this description over the age of 18?

depends which tuberville you'd get. if he's hungry or not...

and as long as most of those guys hire good coordinators I don't think it would be much of a change. Miles isn't so genius mind. His coordinators will make him look smart or retarded. See the last 3 years.
