I'm sure initial feelers are being put out on many unnamed candidates right now, but I can't see Alleva taking a chance on such an unknown after firing Miles. He's mentioned several times he wants someone with experience at the highest levels.

Also, after every win by O, I'm thinking one less person gets interviewed.

yeah b/c those guys never fail...... Only wanting someone with the "experience at the highest level" is what I call "trying to cover your arse". It's so you can point to prior success as the reason for the choice so when/if they fail you are not to blame. It's such a BS position. Hire the best damn coach you can get, period!

I don't disagree with you, just pointing out that what he wants. Someone who has coached at the biggest programs likely wont be overwhelmed by everything that comes with that.

Also, the "best damn coach" is hard to determine obviously lol

Sorry, my post wasn't directed at you, more towards the mind set of the decision makers.

And you are right about it being hard to determine is the best option, that why not interviewing all top options would be s mistake????

If Ed Orgeron loses even 1 game, I'm down with interviewing every viable candidate we can.

However, if he wins out during the regular season, I wouldn't even bother. I would immediately give him the job the week prior to the SEC Championship game.

What happened to him winning the SEC first? i thought that was part of the argument?

I was already on his bandwagon, but i took a little while to watch some of his videos today and imo he is the next big thing. I still think Herman is number 1 with Jimbo as 2a and Fleck is my number 2B. We have to be getting the hungry Jimbo though, not the tired worn down jimbo.

Fleck imo though is a superstar in the making. Like somebody else said, everything he does and says screams success. He reminds me very much of saban in the fact he is not worried about the result and strictly focused on the process and are they getting better each day as he knows that is the true path to long term big time success.

If you listen to him speak the man has a vision for every aspect of the program and he impliments a process to make that vision a reality. He would fit in extremely well here because he is clear and concise which is one of the things people love about Coach O and is badly needed after miles and all his BS.

For those thinking he needs more expierence think about this. He took over one of the worst programs in all of college football akin to ULM bad. Then progressivly made them better each year. There was a dip his first year going from 4 wins down to 1 win. Then they made a huge jump his second his up to 8 wins. If we have learned anything from great coaches is that their teams make huge jumps in the second season(meyer at UF, saban at LSU and UA etc.)

Now after getting his recruiting classes fully on board he has them undefeated including a win at northwestern.

Speaking of recruiting WMU went from one of the worst recruiting teams in the MAC to the best.

He also speaks about surrounding him self with the best people and letting them do their job as thats how you get better and learn.

I still have Herman number 1 and jimbo 2 as they are very familiar with the area recruiting wise, but I think Fleck would end up being a homerun. Maybe not at first but in the end he would have us competing for champioships.

also for those that don't know, dude has won everywhere he has been. from state titles in hs, to being one of the best players at Northern Illinois while they were winning conference championships to making the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. They were so impressed with him that when he got hurt they offered him the assistant wr coaching job.

as a GA he was with Ohio State on the 2006 team that went to the NC. He coached under Tressel, Jerry Kill, Shiano at Rutgers and resigned as OC at NIU to caoch with Shiano in Tampa.

WMU didn't even have a recruiting coordinator when he got there. Dude would kill it here. hell his budget for his whole staff is less than 900k.

Offer him 3million and 8 million for staff and imo he would blow the doors off. Dude screams success.

I listened to a P.J. Fleck interview on Neuheisel's SiriusXM show, and that cat had me ready to jump into the boat and start rowing.

I don't know if he's ready for the LSU job, but he's got a bright future.

Yeah, frick a coach who is undefeated. A coach who has his team ever in the top 25. A coach who out recruits everyone in his conference four straight years.....
