all suburban Atlanta kids. as were pretty much all the kids listed on that list of his past recruits someone posted earlier ( LINK). I think he may have had a hand in Drayton Calhoun as well.
I always found that interesting, him being a big Texas guy. maybe he made some good inroads around Atlanta when he was at MTSU.

The thing that people keep telling themselves about him is "Hes a great recruiter". Hes a fine recruiter, but he was at best the 5th best recruiter on our staff at any time. Is Ole Miss' recruiting THAT bad that they need to bring in a complete liability of a coach to recruit?

Exactly. I mean he was a good recruiter at LSU, but he wasn't close to the best recruiter on staff. That doesn't mean he will do great at Ole Miss.
And he is a catastrophically bad coach.

Ole Miss doesn't need him to be their best recruiter either. We already have good recruiters on staff, he just bolsters it.

You swamp rats act as if we're stuck with the guy forever. We hired him to mainly recruit a position that we've whiffed on for years.
If he turns out to be a big bag of suck...then we can fire him.
He's a position's coach....it's not like we gave him defensive coordinator or anything.

His recruiting is good enough that he sticks around like a cancer. Every offseason everyone convinces themselves "LOOK HES THE LEAD RECRUITER ON ALL THESE GUYS! frick HIS COACHING ABILITY!"
Then you see the product on the field and you realize it doesn't matter how much talent you have when whatever unit he's over plays nowhere near their potiential and loses you games.
