And even as a special teams coach, that group did pretty well after Les was fired and his direction was focused more on traditional schemes.

The first kickoff of Orgeron's interim tenure went out of bounds. The only reason he didn't get fired when Miles and Cameron were canned is because LSU didn't have an in-house replacement for him. And the minute Orgeron took him away from the linebacker, the linebacker play improved immensely until Beckwith got hurt against Florida.

Yes, the guy is an elite recruiter. He is equally elite on the awful scale as a coach, meaning he's an overall negative to a program.

Horrendous special teams coach. Weakest link of the chain for the past 3 yrs.

I don't believe he had any impact on the development of our LB's. Not trying to selectively criticize but I just don't buy that he was on the staff to coach.

To that point, he is a great recruiter. He often was charged with recruiting the blue chips. Has a way with kids, finds good under the radar talent.

If his corching position is merely a paper transaction, this will help ole miss.

Yep. The first kick was in the corner. It's what he had been told to do for the past couple years. Once he got direction from his HC to stop doing that, he did.

And are you kidding me with the improved linebacker play? In 6 days those guys magically got better? Linebacker play had been fine. As the season progressed, Aranda put in more packages, and the d got better acclimated to the system. Don't make something out of nothing. I'd submit that Beckwith got much better last year. The improvements this year by Riley from last year, etc. Again, he has been well respected as a linebacker coach, even on here many times, until we fire the guy and someone else hires him.

He has coached some great linebackers, though, and is generally thought of to be very good as a linebackers coach everywhere but on tigerdroppings, where his special teams stuff blends into all areas of his coaching

Literally, orgeron's either first or second action as INTERIM head coach was to takeaway peveto' responsibilities with coaching linebackers.

he's got good relationships in texas, which is his honey hole.

Just read that as well which makes me feel a little better about it.

Those relationships won't help OM in this cycle, then Freeze will prolly be fired next year.....just don't see any upside to this hire for OM. Go look at all the studs he reeled in while at Kentuky..........

Literally not having a position coach for that position would be better than Peveto.

We are not over exaggerating. He is an epically inept coach. Cosmically bad.

Good recruiter though.

Also, such a weird mix of responsibilities... run game coordinator AND ILB coach. Very odd

BS title to get him more money.

But I imagine it's "Run Game Defense Coordinator" and they will hire someone to be a "pass game coordinator too.

long as he doesn't touch our special teams unit, I like the hire

O got the interim tag and immediately stripped BDP of his LB duties and then fired him after the season. So...

But then as an LSU fan, I shouldn't shame you over hiring one of our failed coaches.

RBs will be in the middle of the field at the 5 running uncontested for a touchdown.

And somehow he'll end up out of bounds.

Took a shitty Northwestern State program and literally made them worse! Horrible coach. I would make him recruiting coordinator and water boy that's it!

Wouldn't put him 10' with in any current player. He must be able to talk some serious game because he is a God awful coach.

Peveto recruits well cause he knows the HS ciaches, he has been around forever. Very engaging. When he was at NSU I was in Natchitoches a few times a week. Always recognized me, shook hands and would sit and eat a couple times. Was kinda weird but very friendly and interesting. I can see it playing well to recruits
