LSU fans will make fun of the guy, but he's actually a good person to have on your staff. Not such a hot coach, but can recruit very well.
We just need so much help at the LB position, so maybe that was the thinking behind it. Hopefully it works out.

When it comes to evaluating and recruiting talent he is damn near elite. Can't teach a position worth a shite though.
quote:yeah i think it's a good hire from a recruiting standpoint, for sure.
Just read that as well which makes me feel a little better about it.
coaching wise, i'd say that leaves some to be desired. but, again, i doubt he's being hired for that.

I wouldn't think so. I feel pretty good about McGriff being the DC. Peveto just needs to get good LB's there and I think he'll be fine. Just go recruit big guy.

He's an excellent recruiter but anything he touches from a coaching aspect turning into dick cancer.

This is why I don't take any coaches seriously. A month ago Peveto was on the trail telling kids how great LSU is and that it's where they need to be. Now tomorrow he's gonna start telling the same kids with a straight face how great Ole Miss is and how much he loves it there. 2 days ago he hated Ole Miss, but now he's gonna tell an 18 year old kid how much he loves it. Such a slimy business.

I mean, what do you want him to do? Retire because LSU fired him?

Yeah but that doesn't mean he will be as good recruiting for OM

I don't care how bad he is as on-field coach he's still an improvement from what we've had.

I read he was going to have a big hand in Special Teams as well.

He was #1 in the country earlier this year

No, you won't. He's a great recruiter, but his ineptness as a coach at any position will make him an overall negative to your program. We've lived that experience twice, and it's an overall negative.

Don't listen to the majority of this shite about Peveto. He is an elite recruiter. As a special teams coach, he didn't do that well. He has coached some great linebackers, though, and is generally thought of to be very good as a linebackers coach everywhere but on tigerdroppings, where his special teams stuff blends into all areas of his coaching. And even as a special teams coach, that group did pretty well after Les was fired and his direction was focused more on traditional schemes.
Bottom line, all things considered, I would much rather have him coaching in the sunbelt or something.
