That would have been an option if the LHN would have been a raving success (to the point that option was built into the LHN contract) but it is off the table now.
Texas has one option on the table that has the academic prestige it wants and one-ups the fact that the SEC is taking over the state- The B1G.
OU will either go SEC if they can get divorced from OSU, or the ACC or PAC if they can't. The rest outside of Kansas and maybe West Virginia will be screwed.

Fox news if actively working behind the scene to not expand. That was on ESPN last week.

Texas doesn't want to get out yet. Their LHN contract ends in 2030 and no other major conference (except MAYBE the ACC) will take it as it is (and it isn't successful enough to support an independent Texas). They want the Big 12 to survive at least until then. I could see them pushing to expand the GOR to 2030 after expansion just for that reason.

I don't know. When A&M did it they sacrificed the game with Texas to get the SEC. OU depends on that game for practical reasons (A&M depended on it for emotional reasons) so OU might not be willing to make a move that ends the rivalry.
The dream situation for OU is Texas helps them get into the B1G. Then they get more academic prestige, get to keep the Texas game, and they get the Nebraska rivalry game back.

I would love to have Oklahoma and Texas Tech in the SEC. It would guarantee 1 more marquee game and 1 more win per season.
