Per Pete Roussel, it's Patterson's job if he wants it.

I've been iffy on Patterson, especially when Arkansas media are claiming it's basically done.

That reason alone has kept him out of the legit tier, I also figured half of his team popping on weed, and his QB going to rehab would be blackeyes when we're looking for an man of integrity and such to lead the tBeacon.

Patterson seems logical. Makes sense for him to leave and the Arky job is a significant upgrade.

Curious why you think TCU-->Arky is a considerable upgrade, yet OSU-->Arkansas is lateral at best.

TCU is a 2nd tier Big12 job

OSU is a 1st tier Big12 job

Arky is a 2nd tier SEC job

SEC > Big12

Big 12 tier 2 job (TCU) = SEC tier 3 job

Big 12 tier 1 job (OSU) = SEC tier 2 job (Arky)

That's why the Arky job is an upgrade for Patterson and a lateral move for Gundy. Arky and OSU both have first class facilities, OSU probably having better at the moment. SEC is a better conference, but harder to win in the SEC W than it will be to win in the Big12 as a whole. With the BCS playoff looming, it would seem certain that the Big12 winner would be granted a spot in the playoff every year. It would also seem easier to win in the Big12 moving forward at OSU than it would be to win in the SEC W division against LSU, Bama and TAMU year in year out. Also, Gundy is an OSU alum and enjoys Stillwater. There is no rift with Tboone, despite the attempt of some of you all to make one up.

Bottom line, Gundy is not leaving and would not take the Arky job even if you all reach out to him because you all are not a premier top 5 or top 10 program.

If one of those programs came call for Gundy, who knows, but he will not go to Arky no matter what you all say.

I'm sure when Patterson takes the gig, or whoever it ends up being, you all will say that in the end Arky didnt want Gundy. The truth being that Gundy didnt want Arky though.

You all have a great program and it will hopefully be back to winning again soon, wish you guys all the best in hiring a coach. It just wont be Gundy.

I agree that it is certainly possible that Gundy is using Arky to get more money and/or interest from a "bigger" program. It is also possible that Long and others don't see this b/c emotions are clouding their judgement.

However, the same could be said for you. You want Gundy to stay. He may very well do that. The fact (and it is a fact) that he is entertaining Arkansas means that the possibility of him leaving OSU is greater than what you want to admit.

Lol wut?

OSU isn't a 1st tier Big 12 job.

Its Texas and OU on their own level and then OSU can be on a level below them if you want but they are nowhere near being on the same level as those two.

1st tier

I like you man, would def. buy you a mini-pitcher at the Copper Penny, but please allow me to break down your conf. into tiers.

Big 12
Tier 1
Texas
Oklahoma
(Nebraska)

Tier 2
(Texas A&M)
(Colorado)
Kansas St. (traditional doormat)
Oklahoma St. (traditional doormat)
Texas Tech
W. Virginia
(Missouri)
TCU

Tier 3
Baylor
Iowa St.
Kansas
(Houston, Rice, SMU, UTEP, etc.)

Schools with 55,000 seat stadiums and a barren wasteland right next to the stadium don't get tier 1 status.

CtotheVrzrbck,

Are my ACC buddies that are saying Gundy to Arkansas behind in the times & inaccurate?

Other notables:
Al Golden to UT
NC State gonna push for James Franklin

Carry on.

What are they hearing? I hope they're correct. For some reason I don't see Golden leaving this year, Miami is too sweet of a place to live and make good bank doing it.

NCstate won't get Franklin imo, ACC football is a step down from the SEC though NCstate isn't a bad job, I just wouldn't want to be a football coach in North Carolina at any school.

Gundys agent is floating his name around for another raise IMO, that's his job. It's gonna take something better than the arky job to get him to uproot his kids from the place they have grown up and burn the bridge with his alma mater.

must have been the reason why he called Jeff Long personally to talk about the job and not his agent?

you are well informed.

Fayetteville > Stillwater, especially for raising families.

Maybe since Gundy's kids are all age 9 and up they're thinking about better education options for the kiddo's. Fayetteville provides that.

Pinnacle and Blessings > Karsten Creek
Razorback Foundation donor planes > than OSU's WW2 era donor planes
Dickson St. > the Strip (though the apartments off the strip are far more affordable than the condo's off Dickson now)
AQ Chicken House, Grub's, Sassy's > Eskimo Joe's
Mermaids, Catfish Hole > Red Lobster
XNA > Stillwater Regional
Razorback Stadium > TBoone's party pit
hills > flat as frick
trees > constant 20mph wind

However,
The Spider Dome > The Whitehorse

Your sources are amazing. It's incredible that this hasnt been mentioned on any OSU premium board or any where in Stillwater, but some how your sources are able to procure this information.
