100% he stays, no recruiting responsibility.

why are we so confident the NCAA will allow this?

ok when a coach is fired? that makes sense

but when you hire the full staff? how?

He's staying on as DL coach.

...what?

he can become a "consultant" or whatever but he can't actively coach in that case, i don't believe

the guy is dead weight and cant recruit ... whats the point of keeping him one more year when you could hire a good DL coach who could reel in recruits this cycle.

That's from O's press conference. I think that article makes some assumptions. Orgeron said Jenkins will be returning, but never said in what position.

We will know for sure soon enough, but I don't think they would make hires to jeopardize recruiting.

This is quite the assumption, considering the article clearly says he's staying as DL coach, and O has never hinted at anything else.

The article says that but Orgeron never said that.

All those quotes are from the press conference. I watched it live. He just said Jenkins was returning. Never in what capacity. I think the writer made the assumption it was as DL coach. Could be, but Orgeron never said that.

Definitely can't be on the sideline on game day, not sure about practices. He would be able to break down film with the players for sure. O had to pull him off the beach to come home in September, if I were him I'd be back in Destin already.

Both Pete Jenkins and Steve Ensminger will stay on staff, according to Orgeron, with Jenkins reprising his defensive line position for another year and Ensminger filling a role that has yet to be determined.

Still not seeing a quote.

Regardless, this will be settled soon. I don't know that anything said in haste is set in stone.

What were you watching? He really got exposed when Beckwith got hurt.

Gilmore's problem is less that he sucks and more that he's too undersized to play NT in this defense. I would assume he was out there because of experience and the staff not trusting Valentine, for whatever reason. I'm betting we start seeing a lot more of Alexander and Lawrence on the DL before long.

Alleva's a joke. It didn't take hiring O to show that. However, Orgeron has made 1 personnel move -- firing Peveto. I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong.

Nothing against coach Pete but doesn't Aranda have some say into who the new DL coach will be ? I mean shite he is the DC right?

He is no spring chicken but he will stay for at least another year. He is a nice guy and a great coach. He likes to tell the story of how he tried to recruit Marshall Faulk to LSU. We did not offer him as a running back but as a linebacker. He opted for San Diego State. People ask Pete whether he feels foolish for not offering Faulk as a running back. Pete's reply is "Not at all, I still think he would have made a hell of a linebacker".

Aranda loves Pete. That's probably another big reason he's staying on one more year.
