Over holidays spent time with relatives who know a few current LSU players who were home for holidays. They confirmed co-DC was a diaster and nobody knew what was going on all season. One defensive player tells a story of one coach telling him to go on the other to stay out. He said this happened repeatedly. Claims it really hurt the morale of defense.

I like Miles and will continue to support him, but this is clearly his fault and he must accept responsibilty for it.

The QB situation is just bad luck in my opinion and I dont blame him for sending trouble makers down the road regardless of whether they are five stars starters or three stars back ups.

damn guys, he made a mistake and thought hiring from within would be good for coaching morale, instead of always going out and finding a coach. I can understand that. He is fixing it. With as well as he has done at lsu he is entitled to one mistake imo.

based on the action he appears to be taking, I would say he has...

while I do agree that the co-DC's did a horrible job this year, I wonder if the players have taken any responsibility for pathetic tackling and needless personal fouls?

FWIW dreaux, I agree. I hate loosing as much as anyone, especially to Saban. But Miles has managed this team pretty well, now we will see how he deals with the DC hire.

Unbelievable...really? one mistake and you lost a LOT of respect for him? something tells me you struggle with the concept of respect to begin with. This is sad. I would understand if you were frustrated, angry, disappointed, but to lose respect for a man that has earned it because of one mistake says more about you than it does about Coach Miles.

well with the very few things that les is directly responsible over, it says something when he absolutely failed in one of them

If you are expecting perfection you will NEVER be satisfied. NO COACH is beyond mistakes. The difference in success and failure is seen in how you deal with and correct the mistake. And make no mistake about it, if he looses 5 games next year as ugly as some this year I too will be calling for his head! But give the man a chance to right the ship.

hahaha...so NOW he is directly responsible for very few things? my guess would be that the things that have been/will be successful he has little influence over and those things that fall short of success will be his domain? am i right?

look we disagree. you will not change my mind and i will not change yours. Losing RESPECT is a poor choice of words in my opinion.

he's responsible for recruiting, being the face of LSU, and hiring coaches

he's done well in 2/3, but has been mediocre in the 3rd

what coaching hires in particular do you think have been mediocre?

Personally, i think he's made some very good hires. The Co-defensive coordinators didnt work out, sure, he's in the process of correcting that mistake, so what else are you thinking about?

I still think crowton was a homerun. and I still like studrawa. his defensive hires haven't been great, but aside from the malleveto thing, they haven't been terrible either. But again, I don't think you get a mulligan on a screw up of that level. If you hire a bad DB coach or something, I can give you a do-over. Not on a coordinator, and especially not on a coordinator that's not going to be a figure head, ala Saban's DC or Meyer's OC.

a gross understatement of his responsibilities. To name a few, he helps develop and approve game plans, oversees practices, makes critical game decisions. Sure, he messed up the Co DC deal, but he's otherwise gone after some pretty talented asst. coaches.
